First hand account
We live in a time where it’s easier to tear down historical property and ignore our nation’s past. This book is a first hand account of living in the 1860’s if you are interested in this time period it’s a great book

No Kyd-ing--This is a great and important book
I have a scholar friend who says this book should have been titled, "Stonewall Rode With Me," and although that's insightful and somewhat true, it scoffs at the beauty of this amazing story. The author, a very young man at war's outbreak, returns home from his new legal career in St. Louis to Virginia to assume his "rightful patriotic" role as a soldier in the Confederacy. He is an attorney, incredibly well read for a 20-something, bright, articulate and very brave. It's hands down the best first-hand close-up account I've read about any of the Civil War generals' "right-hand" men. Read and enjoy this remarkable book--we are so blessed to have it! revJON

well written with exceptional insights to the "War of Northern Aggression" as every southerner saw the Civil War. Another Douglas warrior with a true story about the truths of war.
