ASICSMen's Gel-Venture 8 Mid Top Running Shoes

I’m not sure if the sizing is unique to these shoes or common with Asics, but they run very small. I’m typically a size 9.5 in all tennis shoes. I ordered a 10 and even those were too short and narrow. Returned for a 10.5 and they fit perfect now with about a thumbs width in the toe box to spare.Have only worn the shoes for a couple workouts and runs but they feel great. Lightweight, good grip, good support, and they are incredible affordable compared to some shoes of the same quality for $150+.A couple notes about the black/gold/“cherry” colors: The sides are more of a greenish gold than gold as pictures. And the mesh on top is a dark greenish blue. Not black. I actually like this better than the photo provided! Also several have complained about the laces. They must have been given a bad lot because these are some of the best laces I’ve had.

These are extremely comfortable right out of the box. They're the lightest trail shoe I've had. I expect them to be perfect for summer because they have a very roomy and ventilated toe box with little in the way of reinforcement to block airflow. With all this greatness, I do not expect longevity. Light weight means light duty. Looks nice, feels nice, I'll enjoy them while they last. Very happy overall. I wear a 10 but the 9.5 fit better. Lots of room in this shoe...

My original review is below. Here is my update:I reordered a half size larger. The length is good but they feel a bit wide. I’d I wear them with thick socks and lass up the mid sections tightly it fit fine. They’re comfortable after a few gym sessions and mile to two miles of walking. The laces are oddly thin to the point they’re uncomfortable. I will probably replace themOriginal review:As other reviewers have said, they run small. I typically wear an 11-1/2 in most brands including other ASICS and the Amazon recommendation was for that side. But when they arrived it was obvious I’d need a 12 or perhaps a 12-1/2. Other than that the quality seemed good. They looked like the photos. But I am returning them. I may or may not get a larger size. If I do I’ll update this review

Disclaimer: I did not buy these for running, but for everyday use.I don't know why, but my feet have loved Asics shoes for the past dozen years. I own several pair that I use for both exercise and daily wear. First and foremost, I find Asics to be a lot tougher than some claim. They wear like iron for my usage level, and a single pair can easily last for three or four years with a modicum of care. Second, these are comfortable. It does not take long (in this case two days) before they conform to your feet. The breathability is outstanding. With said, you will feel the cold on freezing days if you are not moving around a lot. In the summer, however, your feet will not be swimming in their own sweat. Finally, I find the inner sole to be at the proper cushioning level: not too hard so it doesn't feel like you're walking in mush, and not too soft, but doesn't feel like your walking barefoot on cement.The style is what is is. Some might complain Asics are starting to look dated. However, I am not wearing shoes to impress other people (and I find those who do weird anyway). I stick with neutral grays so I can wear them with any sock, any pants, or any shorts. They never stick out or look flashy. I like that. These are running trainers and do what they need to do without any fuss.

I bought these looking for ankle support and because I'm a regular ASICS user and I think they make the best running shoes.I expect to use these for a 1week-60mile walk in spring in Spain (Camino de Santiago), so I was looking for ankle support (these provide GREAT ankle support). BUT these are less comfortable than my regular ASICS. If my regular ASICS are 100% comfortable, these are 85%. They could use more support in the arch area, so I think I'll add a 3rd party insole.Still, I think it was a good buy for my investment (even adding the extra $30 shipping that I had to pay for living overseas).

Just got them a day ago and wore it for a full day. I had an ankle sprain and this seemed to be the only summer suitable sneaker with high top.. All other midtops are either hiking waterproofs or basketball, sweaty! This one is just a higher version of their running shoe. I went with ver 8 instead of 9 because of a 20 dollar difference.Now I am not a runner, I walk for exercise. My preference is lots of cushion like Hokas and some Brooks.Despite of the lack of cushioning these are comfortable. 2mile walk was not problematic.It is not very high but high enough to support my taped ankle.Sizing IMHO spot on. I wear a 9.5W or usually 10M. Regular 10 did the job.Can't talk durability, will have a trip where a lot of walking will happen. I will update if anything adverse.

I bought these to replace my old Rebook hi-tops. These are great and very lightweight and breathable. I liked these so much that I also purchased another pair In grey.I like hi-tops for the ankle support and usually get Nike or Redbook hi-tops. Getting those Gel-Ventures I could really tell the difference in weight. The ankle padding was good. I would've liked it if there were more padding in the tongue. The show laces are ok. The fit was just right and comfortable. I mostly use these as walking shoes. I have other shoes for running purposes.

Really like them ... Cost a little much but worth it30 dollars less and I would've given a 5 star ... Price means alot these days
