Glossy but wanting and suspect.
This little book is like one, glossy, smooth, row of chocolate which leaves you wanting more. It is certainly not overpriced for what you get, but all th black areas on the pages would be much bettr filled with a bit more substance and not simply be fingerprint collectors.I think it would be a better seller at a slightly higher price with more to it. More than one idea why peopl might wish to put togethet collections are glaringly absent and the massive current trend for vintage silver is not there. Gold glares rudely out of the page at every turn. Mention is given to non precious materials but none shown.I have one last cynical little note. Is this an advert for the charms of Links of London mentioned at every turn?

great little book
To sum it up, this little book explains one person's family's charm bracelets and their meanings and histories. It is fun to see the vintage charms on every page and learn about how they came to be as well as their story behind them. It is a whole life's history worn on a wrist for all to see. This book also helps you chose and compile your own little scrapbook of life on your own wrist. It gives good tips on where and how to find your little sparkle gems whether it be at auctions, flea markets, ebay etc A good little reference for the charm collector or charm junkie as i call myself!

This book was Not charming or very magical
"Charming: The Magic of Charm Jewelry"A promising title- unfortunately within the 112 pages in this book, the too limited information is scattered about with just a paragraph here and a couple of paragraphs there- too little new information. There are a few interesting photographs but in general I felt that the artistic presentation was very poor- uninteresting and dull. The dust jacket boasts 108 illustrations with 102 in color- sounds impressive yes- but without artistic vision- it's a wasted effort. Who really needs to see Kelly Osbourne on an entire page- charmed chested. On the other hand, the Elizabeth Taylor charm bracelets and the Hollywood fifties stars- those were great. Still, the highlights too few- this could have and should have been a totaly fun and exciting book -but was not.I was very disappointed with this book and in my view a waste of money, I took a chance and this time I lost.A lovely book however - Tracey Zabar and "Charmed Bracelets" which has everything you want in a book about charm bracelets- great photographs, charming chatter and all put together in an interesting and artistic style making it very fun and interesting.
