Complete Guide to Home Canning: Revised 2015

Rose Red Homestead recommended this book, so I thought that I would give it a try. I have never canned, and I still have never canned...lol. Maybe one day...

A lot of good information for home canning.

This is the first book a canner/preserver should own. It has the most up to date processing times and pressures as well as how to prep items for safe storage and consumption. This is not a recipe book, but all canning recipes should be compared to these instructions to be sure they are safe. There are some absolutely crazy online recipes and videos available that do all kinds of unsafe practices and look so wonderful, but food poisoning is a real thing and can be devastating. Once you learn the proper procedures, you can see where you can work around those recipes to create your safe version.

Needed more information

If you’re a first time canner or a beginner, this is the book to get. Lots of information that is accurate in it. It’s the perfect jump off book to learning how to can your own foods and using your own recipes later on. I highly recommend this book.

If you can only get 1 canning book, get this one

The book came earlier than advised and is exactly as expected.

Diese Datensammlung ist sehr wertvoll. Die Ausgabe enthält zum Beispiel auch Abgaben zur Meereshöhe, welche die Einkochzeit erheblich beeinflussen kann. Leider wird die Ausgabe nur in Schwarz/Weiß geliefert und die Papier-Qualität könnte für den Gebrauch in der stets feuchten Küche auch etwas besser sein. Aber die gelieferten Informationen sind wirklich TOP !

Given you can download this book for free with colour images and most printed versions state that the images have been converted to monochrome, the only reason i bought this printed version is that the images, according to the sample were in colour. This may not be a major consideration for most folk, but for my eyesight most of the greyscale images are just a smudge, i need the colour in order to determine shapes. Would have given it 1 star on this basis. But the information , From the online version is great, and worth 5 stars, hence 3 for this print version which I'll likely send back, pity
