Great for ice, but not snow
Love these when walking on snow packed, ice paths, but hate them when walking on wet snow. The snow balls up on the spikes and then you're walking on tennis balls. My wife has the radial chain type and they work much better for all conditions.

Not big enough
I have tried crampons before without much luck. The biggest ones were always still too small and would not stay on my boots. Keep in mind, these are for walking on ice, so it's going to be wintertime and winter boots are bulkier than summer boots. I take a size 11. I ordered these because it showed a velcro strap securing the crampon to your boot and they sold an extra large size that would fit boots to size 13. I received these yesterday and it took me nearly 20 minutes to get them on my boots - and that was with my boots off. I never would have been able to pull them on if I was wearing my boots. Then I grabbed the velcro straps provided and discovered they needed to be three times as long in order to work on these boots, so the straps are useless to me. I did a little walking outside and even without the strap, they stayed on my boots, but I was only out for a few minutes. The boots I tried yesterday are the ones I use to snowblow my driveway. I have other winter boots I use for ice fishing and hunting that are size 11, but physically larger and these crampons couldn't possibly fit on them.

Great value and great for trekking in icy conditions.
Most of these are of the same design so I suggest buying the least expensive set. These are preferred for hiking in icy conditions. You can step with 100% confidence. It's been very cold Jan/Feb in Ohio this year, so they've been on my hiking boots the entire time. Probably 100 miles or so without an issue. In mixed slushy/muddy conditions, you are better off using something like the Yaktrax, as crampons will get clogged with mud and debris.

3stars because they split on first hike!
Love the look and fitโฆI may have gotten a faulty pair as one of them did split on first hike. I was able to hold it together with zip ties. Not worth paying shipping to return and the other clear made it thru the rest of the winter great..used about 5/6 hikes in the White Mountains around 2000 ft

Very good traction
Good traction but if you order a size larger than you expect. Got them for a gift for sister she wears a size 8-8 1/2, got the medium and had had to return for large

Handy even in the tropics
Well, I live in the tropics, but these come in Handy when I'm hiking up very steep hills with very dry or sandy ground.
