"If there is one thing that I have learned after a longlife . . . If life has a purpose, it is this." says a frail,bony, wizened, white-haired old man with deathly pale, parchment-likeskin as he slowly and rythmically ... with a young slave girl who... in front of others. Later on he says, "The greatest thingthat a man can accomplish, his greatest achievement, is to bringpleasure to a woman." At one point our gorgeous heroine ischained naked in the dungeon where a wicked countess, an older, jadedwoman, casually grabs her ... and states, matter-of-factly, "Thisbelongs to me until I get tired of it." Now, with scenes anddialogue such as this, I had to give this book four stars (five starswould be an honest-to-God masterpiece). This book is intended to bepart of an ongoing series. The previous, and first (I believe) bookis "The Slave of Lidir," .... I do not know which bookcomes next. The central character is Anya, a gorgeous, young redheadwith porcelain skin and olive eyes. She seems to constantly go fromscene to scene, and from peril to peril. It reads like "ThePerils of Pauline," or "The Adventures of SweetGwendoline." Some of the other characters are: a handsome Princewho never seems to be around to protect her when she needs it; a jadedolder ... countess ... "taskmistress," ortrainer of slaves who (sort of) secretly is infatuated by her; aclever and evil, lecherous older lord; a vindictive and jealousprincess type; well, you get the idea. Sweet Anya is subjected tofetishism, ..., humiliation, sexual submission to both genders,fondling, suspension, being bathed and shaved by others, and so on.In one scene she almost gets ... by a sub-human caveman. The authoris exceptionally talented at drawing vivid and powerful scenes, and asI previously mentioned, some of the dialogue is incredible. I believethat if this author took this stuff a little bit more seriously, he orshe could write a book as good as ...; and getfive stars instead of only four. Thank you.
