A lot of overlap with book one
I don't think this book is necessary. The first book covers the nuts-and-bolts. This one gets into higher-order math skills. And if you're getting up to that level, you're probably going to find age-appropriate curriculum at your school.Plus there's A LOT of stuff from the first book in this one. So much so that I really hardly look at this book.So it's a tough rating. The content is good, but it just doesn't hit the sweet spot the first book does. And it never touches on reading graphs which is a pretty common real-life skill.Lastly, the Appendix isn't as orderly as the first volume. You have to hunt for stuff whereas is Vol 1 they provide actual page numbers for appendix materials. That's not a deal-breaker mind you, but it can be a drag when you're trying to get stuff together before the busses come and you can't find your page quickly. To sum up... the first book is terrific and a must-own. The second book, in isolation, is very good. But it is not an essential companion to the 1st. But for under $20 it's not like you're going to lose sleep over it.I'd love to see a 3rd volume that deals with reading bus schedules, graphs, mentally adding items in your head after rounding to the next-highest dollar, figuring out if "2 cereals for $10" is actually a good deal, etc.

Very helpful for concrete learners
I have one student with Down Syndrome but many who have autism in my Life Skills class. All are very concrete thinkers so I use the activities in this book all the time with them. Worksheets are not a life skill - hands on activities and games are a generalizable life skill. These two books are full of ideas and blackline masters.

I liked the other one so well I bought this too. This is a down to earth basic for special needs students of many labels not just the one listed.
