Q: Would this bowl be suitable for a guinea pig?

Thanks for your question! We actually sell this same bowl for guinea pigs, but without the silicone ring, on Amazon. We don't recommend the silicone ring for guinea pigs because they tend to chew on it. You can find our STAYbowl for guinea pigs in two sizes and four colors on Amazon. The size shown here for cats is the same size as our large STAYbowl for guinea pigs, and it holds 3/4 cup of kibble. The small size holds 1/4 cup, which is just right for two guinea pigs (they only need 1/8 cup of kibble per adult guinea pig per day). Please let us know if you have any further questions. Q: Does this work on carpet?

Yes, it works great on carpet! The bowl has a no-slip silicone ring around the base. It won't slide, but you can easily pick it up and move it as needed.

Q: Could this bowl work for long car rides?

No it would not. It was small and very shallow. Unless you putting dry food in it. But not water. Hope that helps
