Corporate Finance: The Core (Berk, DeMarzo & Harford, The Corporate Finance Series) 4th Edition

I just started investing in stocks and wanted to understand the market so I bought this book. I'm not a Finance student. I bought this book for personal learning. It is well written and the writing style is easy to understand.I learned so much about how the stock exchange works in just the first chapter and technical terms in trading stocks that I see in my TD Ameritrade app that I didn't understand before. I didn't know the NASDAQ is a stock exchange just like the NYSE. And they explain the difference between the two in the first chapter. The chart examples are really nice. I learned that in Chapter 11 bankruptcy what happens to shareholder's ownership...it's goes to the creditors that the corporation is indebted to and the corporation continues business as usual but now the creditors are now the majority owner of the corporation. So looking at a corporation's debt is just as important as their profits when considering investing in a corporation. I'm still only on the first chapter but they teach you how to have a balanced portfolio later.If you want to understand how the stock market works and understand what all the financial analysts are saying on MSNBC then get this book.

At the time, it was what I needed for school.

I was ripped off. The code that came with this book would not work even though it was a brand new code. I was told it was a "generic code" and therefore could not be used for this textbook.

This review is only on the quality of the actual book - not the content. The book's content is fantastic. However, the quality of the pages of the book is such low-grade that it is even hard to read - at first glance it appeared to be a photocopied (for USD 200)!

BEWARE. Missing topics in the book include: Options, Long-Term Financing, Short-Term Financing, and Special topics on Mergers and Acq, Corporate Governance, Risk MGMT, ITNL corporate finance. If you need specifically these topics this book is NOT for you!!!

Just an overpriced textbook!

I thought it included the key for the online supplement to the book but did not. So it was not worth the price.
