Target and to the point.
The first time I saw this book was at the library. I checked it out and renewed it twice. But that wasn't enough. I had to have it. This book shows you how to work and target specific muscles. You can focus on your goal with a multiple variety of different exercises targeting the specific muscle group. It is awesome.

Exercise in Action: Core ... Hollis Lance Liebman
Great resource. I usually pay a personal trainer and over time forget the routine. Unlike a workout video, I get to move at my own pace and form my own routines with this book as a visual guide and ready reference.

Well Presented Exercise Regimen
Exercise in Action is a beautifully illustrated, easy-to-follow set of exercises focusing on core muscles (those in the middle section of your body, front and back). Each exercise includes photographs of the motions, illustrations of the muscles worked, steps, tips, and how to avoid doing each incorrectly. The photographs were done on a green screen and then given a neutral 'pierside' background - much nicer than in a gym or other boring location. And it keeps the action 'clean' and easy to follow. The end of the book features several workouts putting the various exercises together for a common goal (e.g., beginner, rotational, athlete, melting pot, etc.). Note that many exercises do require small accessories including medicine ball, swiss ball, bosu ball, wheel, kettle weights, and more. But nothing excessively expensive like home gyms or such - just smaller accessories. In all, a great book for beginners getting into an exercise routine or those even more advanced athletically. Beautifully photographed and illustrated, easy to follow, and easy to reference and find the exercises.Reviewed from an ARC.

Excellent source of information
I finally started working out again and started a routine that focused on the core. This book helped me to understand which muscles each exercise targeted and also how to do them correctly. I was even able to replace a few exercises in the routine with ones that targeted more muscle groups. Knowing which exercises to do to target specific problem spots is invaluable to me. The pictures/illustrations are clear and concise, and the description even tells you to avoid certain exercises if you have physical problems (lower back pain, herniated disk, etc). Excellent book!
