excellent supporting materials for the Laitz text
I have the Laitz text, this workbook, and workbook 2. I am using them for self-study. I am 4 chapters in and am extremely happy with all three. This workbook is a generous extension of the text, with extra examples and explanation in addition to exercises ranging from quiz-like to lengthy writing assignments and analysis of substantial scores (I'm not that far along, just looking ahead). I chose the text itself because it is held in such high regard in the music theory reddit group, its approach anchored by counterpoint and horizontal analysis rather than the vertical (chord-labeling) focus of eg Kostka. (I have Kostka, I just don't open it any more as Laitz is so lively). I am also supplementing with Aldwell and Schachter, which has similar philosophy and some additional perspective that complements Laitz.

Illogical and frustrating
This workbook is to accompany one of poorist theory texts from which I have been forced to teach. The textbook, and therefore this workbook, is not for the novice underclass music theory student. The textbook has far too much verbiage to explain fundamental elements of theory, often several pages that could have been explained succinctly in a paragraph (just look to the title for the first example of too many words where fewer would suffice), which makes the workbook difficult to assimilate.Use of “-ion” nouns ( modifying verbs into nouns and adjectives - prolongational! ) proliferate, as does the word “expansion”. The author creates many new terms for already established theory elements and techniques, confusing to students already schooled in theory, not to mention teachers.Material in the textbook is never presented in a logical order. I have seen syllabi that reorganize the order of not just chapters, but different parts of chapters, so that teachers can present material that actually builds on previously taught material. These same syllabi assigned homework from other sources. My experience with this book is tutoring students who are struggling through the mire of pompous and confusing text. I have no idea why any school, even those considering themselves an esteemed achool, would select this textbook to inflict upon their students, much less - again - their teaching staff. At any price, not worth the purchase. There is another textbook and associated workbook, in use for decades, that is far superior to this poorly thought out, poorly organized, and poorly written text and accompanying workbook.

Very useful and comprehensive
This was required for my theory course in college, but it was pretty useful despite having weird instructions.

Front of book starts on page235 to 282. Next printed page starts on 43-698. Obviously a miss print! My theory class started on p85 so I was lucky!

Not good...
There is an obvious crease on the backside of the book. Why there are 3 holes along the edge of the book which looks strange...
