Short, Stout, Splendidly Serviceable
The media could not be loaded. During a recent power failure, all of our fancy coffee making equipment, from the electric grinder to the automatic coffee maker and even the electric kettle, became temporarily useless. Thankfully, we have a gas stove and, although the "spark" igniters were dead, we could light a burner with a match to heat water for the French Press. That's when we realized all we had for boiling water was our set of cooking pots and pans, and using a saucepan was at best a messy job as those aren't made for pouring. When the power came back, we started searching for an alternative and ordered the Oggi Whistling Tea Pot.The Oggi pot is very attractive and, after comparing to others in local stores, quite well made. Stainless steel is used throughout, and "fit and finish" are excellent - the bottom seam is very solid, the lid is tight, and the whistle / cap does not wobble on the spout as we saw in some others. The handle arches well above the pot and lid, minimizing the chance of a burned knuckle. Because the handle is directly above the pot (true of almost every teapot) heat rising from the stove does warm it up, though we did not find it to get uncomfortably warm. And that whistle - each time our Oggi Whistling Tea Pot summons us I'm transported to my boyhood and the kitchen where my parents' daily morning cup of coffee was prepared.I have to admit that since receiving our Oggi our more modern coffee making equipment has had some time off. Convenience is all well and good, but there's an element of comfort in using a whistling tea pot which makes it worth the little extra time it takes. We are delighted with this product.

Good kettle, but mine won't whistle properly.
This teapot is decent for its size, and the capacity is as advertised. It work well on both my electric stove and an induction cooktop, and heats at the times I would expect from both.Unfortunately, mine does not whistle loudly- it only wheezes and spits. I need a loud whistle, since my hearing isn't great and I'm easily distracted. I know not to fill the kettle right up to the spout, and made sure that the whistling spout cover didn't get wet- it still can't be heard from the next room and boiled for several minutes before I caught it- with every try I gave it. I chose this for the whistle function, so that's why I took off a star.On the other hand, the handle stays cool enough to grab when the water's boiling, the spout lever functions perfectly, and it does its job. It looks very nice, and the charcoal grey is suitable for my decor. The top opening is large enough to see all around inside and makes scrubbing it out easy, and the lid fits securely. It's a decent kettle, and others have stated that theirs whistles loudly, so perhaps mine is a one-off.Oggi Whistling Tea Pot, 64-Ounce, Charcoal

Dangerous leaking
Upon receiving this teapot, naturally the first thing I wanted to do was test it by boiling some water. Almost immediately, I saw that it was leaking along its bottom seam, long before the water even came to a boil.I then obtained an exchange, this time filling it with cold water and placing it on a glass plate to check for leaks before I even put it on the stove. Within a few minutes, it leaked in the exact same manner as the first (see photo). This may appear to be a quality product out-of-the-box, but leaking boiling water? The seller and/or manufacturer seriously need to look into this glaring defect, since it obviously presents a burn hazard to anyone using it.

Great quality!
The media could not be loaded. This 64 ounce tea pot is great quality, thick metal, and still light weight. It heats water up quickly and whistles when the water is boiling and ready to make tea. The handle stays cool to the touch so you can pick the tea pot up right off the stove. The lid fits securely on the pot. The push button on the lid ensures the spout cover stays open when you want it to. I recommend this tea pot!

Well made and great quality
I got this for my best friend for his birthday since he loves a good pot of tea and he is a bit old fashion so he prefers to use things like this to heat water with. The quality of this is very nice def comes off well made and not cheap or flimsy. I think for a gift this is something that comes across with care and consideration. This pot is not heavy but feels sturdy meaning it should be good with quite a bit of water in it and still be ok for handling which is something I pay attention to since I have problems with my hands and wrists.
