Almost gave up on it at first, but sooo glad I stuck with it!!
Ok, I'm going to be completely honest, I bought this book because I LOVED the Elemental Series and fell in love with Larkspar from that series, and had read all of the books, and have to wait for the next book in the series to come out before I can go any further. Well when I read the reviews for the Elemental Series, a lot of people mentioned the Rylee Adamson Series and how they loved it, so I looked it up, and gave it a shot, since I had nothing else to read until the new book in the Elemental Series comes out. Honestly, I just couldn't get into the book, and it took me a few days to get to the 30% point of the book. Since I do most of my reading at bedtime, it was just something to read and put me to sleep, and during the first few nights, I was falling asleep pretty quick, because the book seemed a little too farfetched for me. Well on the 3rd night I looked for another book to read and had decided to give up on this book, but I couldn't find anything else that caught my interest, so I decided to bite the bullet and try reading just a little bit more of the book since I had already purchased it. Boy oh boy am I glad I decided to give it another shot, because at the 30% mark I started to really get into the book, and the action really started to pick up, and I couldn't help but want to find out what would happen with O'Shea and Rylee a little more. In the beginning of the book it basically explained who O'Shea was and who Rylee was, and it seemed to kind of drag for me, but once their characters started to come to life in the book, you can't help but fall in love with them, and I found myself staying up WAY past my bedtime to read the rest of the book, and immediately buy book #2. Rylee is the underdog, so you automatically want to root for her. She's got a good heart and has morals and she's loyal to a fault at some times, she has an "I don't care what you think of me" attitude, which makes her even more likable, not to mention, she's very dedicated to finding lost children and bringing them back home to their parents, and she's the only one who can truly find them (how can you not like her now). O'Shea works for the FBI, and he's been following Rylee for years since her success rate at finding missing children that the police and FBI can't find, is at 100%...well 99% because she was never able to find her little sister who was kidnapped years before, while in Rylee's care, and basically disappeared without a trace. O'Shea believes that Rylee has killed her sister since there is no evidence and the only person that was present during the time of the kidnapping was Rylee, and O'Shea has spent every waking day and night for the last few years following Rylee to try and prove she had something to do with her sister's disappearance and suspects she may even play a role in the missing children that she conveniently is able to find, while nobody else in the world is able to. But what O'Shea doesn't realize is Rylee isn't completely human, and she's able to communicate with the world of supernaturals, who are playing a role in the disappearances, which is why the humans aren't able to find the missing children, and only Rylee can. O'Shea will finally push his boundaries and get some answers that he's been obsessing over, and finds he may have bitten off a little more than he can chew. Rylee feels guilty for her sister's disappearance and blames herself, and to have O'Shea in her a** every time she turns around, to rub in her face that he "knows" she killed her sister and will one day prove it, only adds to her guilt. With O'Shea basically being a thorn in her side that she wants nothing more than to remove, ends up getting a little too close and she has no choice but to work with him, as much as the both of them hate even the idea of being friendly towards each other, let alone having to work with each other. They both learn some life lessons, and a new world that neither of them ever thought possible starts to develop, throwing them both for a loop. I definitely recommend this book, and even though it starts off a little slow and a little "out there", it all comes together, and without that introduction, you wouldn't know what was really going on, or the depth to the story of Rylee and O'Shea as two different people from two completely different worlds. I am now on book #5, and I don't want the story to ever end! I feel the same way with the Elemental Series, which has made me a Shannon Mayer fan, and I believe I'll be reading all her books that she's put out, and has yet to put out. If you've got a soft spot for the supernatural, romance, adventure, and a kick a** heroine with a kick a** attitude, then this series is perfect for you! This series is for everyone from late teens and up, as I'm a 32 year old mom of 3 rotten girls, I loved it, and I KNOW I would've loved it in my younger days, as Rylee is just in her early 20's with an old soul, and very easy to relate to. I can definitely say that the Rylee Adamson Series and Elemental Series from Shannon, are my new all-time favorite books, and I can't wait to dive in and find out more about the characters that she has created!

A Good Read
Short but good. A fun story that made me laugh with interesting characters. The story absorbed me in that escape I love from my daily worries.

Lovely, tho the relationship misunderstanding chafed
I loved these characters, for the most part. Quite liked the worldbuilding. Enjoyed the plot. For me, the misunderstanding-that-keeps-them-apart cliffhanger ending to the relationship dropped this abruptly to 4 1/2 stars-- it was silly and unnecessary, and I predict that it will linger through at least half of bk 2. The rest of these elements, tho, make that forgivable enough for me to buy bk 2, where I'm headed now.

Fast, entertaining, fun!
I'm so happy I stumbled onto this story! I was hooked from the first paragraph and enjoyed it from beginning to end. I'm a sucker for urban fantasy, and this had everything I usually look for: a kick butt heroine, a bit of mystery and, of course, magic. The main character, Rylee (I love that name) is someone with a supernatural ability to track people. She can find anyone, anywhere, but she prefers to focus solely on locating missing children. Like any person with a cause, she has a past that motivates her to find these kids and bring them home, even if she can't bring them alive. Giving closure to the family is her goal. A worthy goal, indeed, and truly priceless.Of course, she's hounded the entire way by an FBI agent who thinks she's snatching these kids and then returning them for reward, and that she killed her sister years ago. It doesn't help that he finds her very attractive, and his instincts tell him something is off about her but he can't figure out what. That's because in this urban fantasy, the supernatural world is hidden from our "normal" one. But behind the veil lies every magical creature you'd expect, from harpies to unicorns.I found her take on werewolves to be different and interesting. Rylee has a werewolf for a pet, so basically it's like a giant talking dog. I'm not sure it gets any better than that! She has a witch for a best friend, a seer as a mother figure, and of course the FBI agent for a bit of sexual tension. If anything was lacking in this story I'd say it was all the promise of sex without delivering. There's tension, but if you're looking for romantic moments or all out flesh on flesh scenes forget it...they aren't here. This is not an erotic fantasy, it's a mystery with some sexual tension. It's a giant tease in other words, which actually doesn't make it any less sexy. Maybe this novel is just foreplay for a future one.I'm also not a huge fan of the cover. The girl on the cover looks too young for Rylee, and I'm not sure what the moon is doing over her head like that (or the wolf inside the moon). I know she has a werewolf for a pet, but it's not the main part of the story.First Line:"The couple in front of me looked like any other parents who'd lost a child--their hands gripping one another, dark circles under their eyes, skin sallow from not enough food, water or sleep--except for the faintest glimmer of a possibility, a scrap of hope that someone had thrown them, by sending them my way. That was the only difference. A difference they were banking on. Every parent's worst nightmare is the reason I have become the best at what I do. Or maybe more accurately, the only reason I do what I do."Right away, we know a child is missing, and we know the main character is the best at finding them. We might not know how, yet, but the fact that a child has gone missing and the police have given up is enough to keep me reading a page or two. What happened? Why are they gone? Did one of the parents do it? (I watch too many crime dramas, I know). Looking back at the first chapter, it's hard to say exactly what drew me in other than the tone of confidence and competence that surrounded the protagonist. I felt like those parents...I felt like something was horribly wrong but I was going to be in good hands. Someone was going to help. And then, of course, magic and mystery kicked in and I was a goner.I found this to be an easy, fast, entertaining read, and I'm looking forward to Rylee's next case.

Priceless storytelling
It was so easy to give this five stars, it ticked all my boxes, well if I had any. The main reason being I really liked and emphasised with the central character Rylee, who while fighting the supernatural is very human indeed and that gives this story it's heart. The story begins with our heroine meeting a couple who have had their child abducted. Rylee is a tracker and spends her life looking for missing children and the plot revolves around our heroine's battles with the demons in her head and the real ones trying to kill her on a daily basis. Rylee's sister Berget who was abducted when both were children is reason for this. helpfully she is surrounded by strong characters like Milly who is a witch and also fighting her own battles like to trying assert her destiny with the help the local coven. Both girls were taken in by a lady called Giselle and bonded into adulthood supporting each other in their otherwordly practices. She is also accompanied by her werewolf Alex who is trapped in his current form, along with the FBI agent O'Shea who tracks the tracker in the belief that he can prove she killed her sister. This is definitely a page turner I read this until 3am this morning, I never do that, until I literally couldn't stay awake, and immdiately started again when I got up. This is the least predicable book I have read in long time. The thrills and plot are very original and the last time I liked a heroine this much was Katniss Everdeen, Rylee has the same perfect blend of strength, humanity and soul. This is such a good read. The characters are interesting and all are fighting their own battles as well rescueing the abducted children. There is enough action and romance to give the protagonists extra dimensions, and I loved the use of harpies and unicorns. This is so well thought out and flows perfectly. It is so nice to have a character you really want to get behind. I have just downloaded the next book and can't wait to find out what happens next.

A good, pacey read- few complaints
Rylee Adamson is a Tracker which means she helps to find lost children, usually when the cases have a supernatural element. She is also stalked by a cop who thinks she killed her sister. In this book she is trying to find a missing child.Things I liked:- The book is well expressed and easy to read- Rylee was quite a likeable heroine, maybe just a bit too kick ass and not quite enough quirks and vulnerabilities, but still she did not annoy me or seem unbelievable.- Alex! Loved Alex and the take on werewolves. I want an Alex.- Interesting backstory for RyleeReservations- Some grammar and punctuation errors, mainly with its and it's! Tut tut.- We were supposed to like O'Shea and accept him as a love interest, but he was a bit of a stalker. Not convinced that a balanced, non-rapey bloke would act like that, or that he would have time to follow around a cold case suspect constantly and hold down his job. Not much going on with him in this book other than the inappropriate stalking, but I got the sense he would develop as a character.- The plot development and information giving was a bit ham handed at times. Very quickly you were given all the backstory about the sister and information about everything. I think there would've been room for some more tantalising revealing of information, to get us guessing and wanting to know more.A good book, definitely worth a read.

Addictive
There was no point in this book where I could happily put it down for later. I love the characters, all with their slightly different take on the norm. The other beings e.g. Vampire, werewolves, witches are familiar enough in their nature to easily recognise but all have their extra unique twist, so you don't sit there feeling you've read it all before.

New series on par with Jane Yellowrock, Nighthuntress, Elder Race, the Gathering, Dragon Kin, Anita Blake
OMG Fab new find!!!I read very fast and go through my books like an addict ... Ok so books are my vice sue me ... Better yet start reading this series! It's absolutely brilliant!!I ran out of new books and series to read from all 30 of my fav authors. So I started to look at series that are in amazon or reader review recommendations based on my purchases. Some series from new authors started out well but by the third book some fell to poor standard same old same old plots, lines, phrases and scenes ... Which for a reader like me who like to run through a whole series back to back just meant reading blah blah blah. But Rylee Adamson series like Jane Yellowrock and the few others I have listed is fab reading! Tried the first one which was a bit hard going, but I took the advice of the reviewers and got pass the first few chapters ... After that it flew by!Supernaturals, myths, actions, twists, plots, romance, tragedy, soul mates and so much more is in these books. And yes you do need to read this series in order else it won't give you as good a read.Well written, of course e-book errors are present .... But this is true of all ebooks I have bought and it doesn't detract from the enjoyment, written with humour and all that jazz and sizzles and heart pounding involvement when you read a good book and it draws you in.I'm not giving the low down on the books' contents or their characters because all that is in previous reviews and book summaries.I'm writing this review to endorse this new series I have found! I'm writing the review here and not in the 5th book because this is where the majority of readers will make a decision to buy and read this series or not.Read these!! You won't regret it .... You'll just lack sleep like me!! Lol. Enjoy and thank you Ms SM! You've got yourself a new fan ... Can you write any faster?! I'm on the last available book!! ;) xx

Glad I read this one
If you have never read a super natural book, then you should try this one. Great characters that you cannot help empathise with. The story line flows easy, you don't know you are reading, more like you are part of the story. Hopefully the rest of the series is as good. Book 2 certainly is getting the chance by me.
