Love Yourself & Lose Weight: The Success Story of Self Love

Interesting read with simple to follow steps to achieve your goals.
I have ‘skim’ read this new book by Katie Lips and as someone who has always battled with weight journeys, I identified with many of the challenges that Katie has dealt with on her quest to learn how to love herself by losing weight. I liked the breakdown of each challenge she set herself to reach her goals and feel they could be adapted by many people. This is an inspiring story of one woman’s battle with a lack of self confidence, low esteem and poor body image, ending with a positive outcome for her. However I do feel there was quite a lot of repetition in the messages she gave and the choice of language used, the focus being on how much we need to love ourselves and to find food to love etc. This may have been deliberate to reinforce the message Katie was giving, however the intensity of her desire to change everything about herself worried me somewhat particularly with the fact that she put all her happiness down to being thinner and fitter. I applaud the quest to eat more healthily and become fitter but I worry that women (and men) are often put under too much pressure to conform to society’s expectations of what a beautiful person looks like. This can lead to unnecessary pressure upon the individual to achieve ‘perceived perfection’ which I find disturbing. I don’t think Katie’s book is written with the intention of saying ‘being over weight equals being unhappy’ and it is meant to encourage people, by using clearly set guidelines, to believe that they can affect changes in their life styles that they desire. I liked the honesty of this book and do think that anyone reading it could adapt some of the methods that Katie has identified, which have helped her, to reach their own goals. Overall this is a well written book with a practical approach to achieving the goals that individuals are looking for to improve the quality of their lives.

Losing weight is about changing your mindset and reconnecting with yourself
I heard about this book on social media and have found it truly inspiring and engaging to read. Katie writes in a very simple, accessible and colourful way sharing her vulnerability to help the reader understand the journey that she has been on. I was particuarly drawn to the 'why did I stop loving myself' and how Katie rooted that in her childhood limiting self beliefs and how society and lifestyle sometimes leads to further alienation from ourselves and the pain from that leads to self-soothing activities. Her positive language and the vibe of her book is infectious and her activities are easy to follow. It has certainty helped me to welcome my amazing self in more; and prioritising my wellbeing needs despite a busy schedule working partime with children.

A wonderful book to help you live your best life :-)
This is the most amazing weight loss book I have ever read! The author truly understands every piece of the puzzle that represents an emotional eater on the deepest level. She is so relatable, and she is generous and kind with her advice and recommendations. I felt like the further I read, the more I connected with her and the book itself. I kept thinking to myself, "how does she know I think this way!?" "How does she know I've said this to myself?!" Her activities offer support, guidance and truly set you up for success towards loving your body and living a life of wellness and health. I would recommend this book to anyone struggling as I have been stuck in the depressing cycle of yoyo dieting and comfort eating over many years. This book is helping me tremendously. I just finished reading it for a second time, and I am already so much freer around food, much more accepting of my body, and more calm and joyful all around. Thank you, Katie you are a true inspiration!

A very interesting take
Self love is such a vital thing to human happiness yet it goes unspoken about for the most part. Combining weight loss with it makes complete sense - if we're going to stop eating our (un self-loving) feelings. This book is easy to read. Has excellent activities to try which are simple to follow.I love that it talks about intuitive eating, that it debunks the myth of willpower and is so compassionate throughout.Well worth a try if you've given up on dieting the old fashioned (and not at all effective) way.

Interesting & refreshing
Saw this on FB and thought it sounded worth a try. It is - Katie has a great way with words, and puts across her (admittedly quite different) concept really passionately. Too early to say whether it works, but worth the small investment to find out - and it's not like a bit of positivity about yourself and your life is going to hurt you.

Love this book - actually feeling motivated! :)
Love Yourself and Lose Weight is a really enjoyable read – I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to feel inspired and motivated to bring some healthy habits into their life. I was planning to slowly read it but ended up settling down and hammering it – Katie Lips’ honesty about her own personal journey is refreshing and supportive. She also provides a series of realistic life changing adjustments that make sense and are workable. I love the fact that I actually feel motivated to eat well and take time to be good to myself for the first time in a good while. Also, a huge fan of the approach to eating - not restrictive - so I can still go out and enjoy myself. Really happy with this book making me feel up for some overdue self-care!
