This System works!
I paired this unit with a Dynomax 38515 VT Muffler Cat-Back Single Exhaust System to reduce pressure and increase air flow on both sides of my Jeep Rubicon. I'll try to be brief here despite my excitement about the products. The end result is clearly more power from better breathing. Period. I'm almost amazed trying to figure out why Jeep doesn't do this on vehicles rolling off the production line but, I realize the general public probably doesn't want the resulting sound from this combination. The power may even be just over the line of what is required for this vehicle to do it's basic job. Off the production line, a jeep is awesome. Add some accessories like this and it's like a Jeep on steroids without the side effects. I have already confirmed slightly better mileage after the initial break-in period. After initial install, I was getting about 17.4 mpg. Trouble was, I was having so much fun with testing out acceleration that my foot had something to do with it. Prior to this install, I was refilling my tank at about the 250 mile mark. Today, I just filled it at the 275 mile mark and realized if I had been doing highway miles, I would have easily hit 300+. More power and improved mileage? It's a no brainer. It was a snap to install. I saw a review about it interfering with the fusebox but, it's really not that big of a deal. If you can install this unit, you can deal with the reduced access to the fusebox that's not even an issue if you simply remove the air box and move it out of the way of the fusebox. Also, you have to modify the existing intake with a hack saw but, it's a piece of cake if you follow the instructions exactly and take your time with the cut. Measure 3 times. Mark exactly at the 3" distance as per instructions and cut once. One other thing. The factory air intake once cut, goes into the air box but does not make a tight seal. I'm still going to give it 5 stars because of the result. I plan to call Airaid and ask them what type of sealant or caulk I can use to close up this gap so that 100% of the air is coming in from the top of the air intake. As far as performance, my fiance got in my jeep one day after the install and when I started it up, she looked at me with that....well.....you know. The look our ladies give us when they think we're acting like grown up boys in jeans and work boots! She said: "Honey, you spent money so you could make your jeep sound like that?" I said: "Do you honestly think I'd spend money on a product just to make it sound good?" We took off and I kept my foot a little light. Until I got to the highway of course where you have to be a bit assertive coming off the entrance ramp. I punched it. You know how women often say OMG! Well, let's just say it was a little more explicit than that. Once I slowed down to highway speed my fiance looked at me and said: "Ok, I get it!"So, guys....and ladies who think Jeeps are for girls (You rock by the way if you do!) If you go ahead with this purchase, all I can say is have fun! You're not going to turn your jeep into a race car but, I personally think the difference I've experienced is more than worth every penny. I highly recommend the combination.

awesome!!!
I left a review after I purchased this intake and now I have had the intake for over 6 months now and I have to say its worked out great. I have a 2012 wrangler unlimited sahara with the 3.6 pentastar motor and the 6spd manual. since installing the intake I have noticed a few changes as far as power and gas milage. The jeep is definitely more responsive on the higher revs and the intake screams when I punch it in second or third which is basically why I bought it. Second the gas milage varies. at times its very poor when I first bought the intake my gas milage dropped from 19.2 to around 17.9 driving normally. Since then I have put about 10,000 miles on the jeep with the intake and gas milage is just about where it usually was at without the intake, which was 19-22 going about 65 every morning for 30 miles each way. One thing I will tell you is that this intake boosts gas milage big time when going driving at higher speed. I live in Connecticut and go to school in North Carolina and drove down about about a month ago driving at 80-85 mph and averaged between 23 and 24 miles to the gallon. IN A JEEP!! All in all I would definitely recommend getting this Cold Air Intake If you are looking for something that is going to boost performance as well as slightly better gas milage (depending on how you drive) I will tell you that if you drive normally you will not hear it inside the truck. One of the reasons I purchased this model intake was because it was in an enclosed intake and when I didn't want to hear it I wouldn't. Something I will recommend though is if you are looking for strong intake sound all the time do not buy this intake buy an AFE stage 2 system for the Pentastar. My buddy has it in his 2013 unlimited sahara and Ill tell you it is awesomely loud. Hope this was a help to somebody and this spring I am planning on lifting the jeep with an AEV 3.5 sc lift and 35" tires and I will write another review then.

Great product so far
I was apprehensive to buy an air intake for my 2012 jeep jk after reading a bunch of conflicting posts, but after a few weeks of research I decided to buy this AIRAID intake and test it out for myself. My expectations for an air intake weren't very high due to the lack of support on the Jeep forums but overall I am genuinely impressed. I chose this Intake system due to the fear of waterlocking the engine from an "open" intake and for the simple fact that it resembled the stock intake which pulls from the same air source. So out of the box it was in a few pieces with a hardware package and instructions and looked fairly easy to install. I looked on youtube to get a general idea of the install since im no wrench turner which was helpful. Install took me about 2 hours going step by step and finding the right tools which were minimal. The hardest part was carefully detaching the air censor which seemed to be fragile and an issue for other installers as well as cutting the stock air duct ( hack saw with fine teeth is optimal). The only part of the system I didn't like was the fitting of the stock air duct on this system which isn't a great fit. The mount for it is relatively square and when the stock duct was bolted on there was space around the corners due to the roundness of the duct. I will probably end up sealing it with some sort of silicon to make it air tight. After install I reset my average MPGs and took it on a test drive and was immediately impressed with the throttle response and the elimination of the lag I got previously, it really picked up and went. After about a week of driving modestly and normally I noticed my MPGs went from 14.5 to about 16 -16.5 not much but better than nothing. Overall I would buy this product again and look forward to my 1600 mile trip to really see these MPG gains.2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport 35" Toyo Mud Terrains & 3" suspension lift

Quiet.
Installs fairly easily in a couple hours. Uses the snorkel from the stock intake. Full cone filter inside the airbox. Screw-on lid for visual checks and filter removal for cleaning. No noticeable noise increase over stock piece. Power increase probably only detectable by dyno. Mileage might be better, if I could keep my foot out of it (FlowMaster exhaust sounds soooo nice!).

Well constructed but tight fit and may not fit with other modifications
Nice upgrade for my 2013 3.6. Combined this with a borla cat back and it really opens up the top end and let's that pentastar vvt breathe like it should. My rubicon stock rubicon with manual trans feels pretty quick for a jeep. Just added 35 inch tires a few days ago and still have great power.Only criticism is that they should include a new snorkel instead of having you hack off the stock one.update:This intake is a very tight fit, even when everything else is completely stock. The Jeep now has a blower and the alternator has been moved a little. This intake did not fit at all with the Edelbrock supercharger. It had to be removed and the stock intake put back in. I tried to fit this intake with a Mishimoto radiator and no-go there as well (with or without the blower). This intake also has you leave in the short snorkel. Even though the directions tell you to cut the end off, it is still a restriction. I ended up just using a high flow stock filter in the stock housing and left the little snorkel off all together. The same stock air filter is also in hemi vehicles so the stock filter is probably fine. Between a high flow filter element and removing your stock snorkel or perhaps even cutting the opening out a little larger would probably net you about the same increase in throttle response and power at the top of your RPM band.
