We have the Treble Clef serving and flatware set shown, and the Avalon set. The whimsical character of these always makes me smile. Some of the black does seem to rub off on hands at first when removing from the box, but then ceases after a wash. The pieces that are secured to the cardboard in the top of the box are attached with very strong plastic cinch style ties are a time consuming hassle to remove. Very sturdy kitchen scissors help, but removing the pieces (2 clips per piece) is still more of a task for the consumer than it needs to be. They have held up just fine in the dishwasher in extremely hard water over 5 years of use. Bottom line, absolutely love them and would buy again. Gourmet Settings, please start attaching the mounted pieces with twist ties; instead of the very thick, hard to remove cinch style.

We have a full set of silverware in this same pattern, and the Wife Unit wanted to get the serving set. It arrived on time and they look great, as expected. The only issue we had was with how they are packaged. They used zip ties to keep the items in the package, but they put the ties on so tight that it was impossible to remove them without scratching and damaging the pieces. I scratched a lot of the finish off of the black handles and it was completely due to how the zip ties were applied. Please be aware of this before making your purchase or you might be disappointed.

I had purchased open stock flatware at Cost Plus Imports but they offered no hostess pieces. Took me years to think of looking on-line, and am so happy to be able to serve meals with matching pieces! These are heavy and solid, and so impressive on the table. Have had the other pieces 7 years and they still look new, so expect to have the same results with these. I hand wash and dry, and they just gleam, and the matte black still is perfect. If you like unusual, rustic and rugged, these will garner compliments every time.

I loved the look!! I like antiques and they have that look. Hand forged look.
