Corningware French White Round 1.5 Quart Baking Dish

Tried to buy twice but arrived damaged both times. The first time, it arrived in a padded envelope completely shattered. The replacement came in a box with some bubble wrap, and that one had a big chip out of the edge.

Some years ago, Corning abandoned the original type of ceramic it used in its products, and what is sold now is not nearly as durable. Sometimes it will suddenly disintegrate in an oven or dishwasher, and so the care and use instructions are different than for the original dishes. That said, this particular piece is a perfect fit for the 6 quart Instant Pot, and it is great as a container for things that you want to prepare there that can be served from the dish. I just add about a cup full of water to the pot, set the wire rack in, and then the dish with my ingredients. I follow the cooking directions for whatever I'm preparing. It is perfectly safe to use this way, and a great time and work saver for quantities small enough to just fill the dish.

Don’t like the made in china aspect of this item. Will have to see how it holds up. All prior corningware items I have were made in USA.

Bought this to replace one I had for a really long time. Exactly what I needed.

About 3 years ago, I replaced almost all of my vintage Corningware with a shopping channel brand. One of those pieces literally fell apart on Christmas. Another was so badly crazed that it was becoming unsightly, and when I noticed it must have a crack through the bottom I knew it was destined for the garbage. So I am replacing lost pieces with good old, very reliable Corningware. I'm sure it will last a lifetime like the ones I gave away (well maybe only almost 40 years for some of the pieces!).

I have an electric pressure cooker and use this item to make cakes and a one pound meatloaf so I don't turn on my oven during the summer months. If you put the potatoes in one cup of broth under this dish while cooking your meatloaf, they both turn out perfectly cooked in 30 minutes.

Great replacement for a chipped bowl - the lid even fits

I have been using the dish now several times in my oven (at 200 deg. C) and in the microwave. I am very happy with the results. This a very beautiful and useful dish.

Arrived extremely well packaged. I see the price is half what I paid now. I broke my old one before Xmas & wasn’t sure what size I needed to fit the glass lid, it fits perfect. Mine did not come with a plastic lid. It’s disappointing this is not the same Corningware I bought in the 90’s. I read they changed. My old one I could use on the stovetop, this one says no to that and no to broiler. Not the sellers fault, but it not being like the original made it not worth the price I paid.

Use it to cook inside instant pot. Expensive but good. Great customer service.

My Corning ware French White Round 1.5 Quart Baking Dishdeveloped a hairline crack in the side (vertical) after one month of very light use.Rather unsurprisingly it is also stamped on the bottom with "Made in China".I don't mind paying more for a quality name and product but seriously Corning ware what were you thinking? Last Corning ware product I will buy.
