What a journey!
I think 4 of my stars are for the map alone. It is beautiful. I followed along as everyone traveled. I need to find a version where I can zoom in better to enjoy it more. The world building was spectacular. It was hard to keep up at first, but it all pulled together.Victoria Aveyard writes with extreme detail which is a blessing and a curse. I love that I can clearly picture everything but it also gets tedious because not everything is relevant and too much description drives me bonkers.I liked the characters but feel they're a little flat except the assassin who should be the heroine. I like Corayne but her personality pales in comparison to Sorosa. Dom has lived for over 500 years yet I find him to be a judgmental, whiney bag of wind. Hopefully, the characters will have some growth in the next book.

An epic adventure with shifting alliances, found family, and high fantasy action!
Why did everyone clench their teeth or clench their jaw or gnash their teeth or tense their jaw? Yes, the story is riddled with tension, but characters can express these emotions in different ways. Seriously, it felt like every other page, a character clenched their jaw. It took me out of the story to roll my eyes. Thus, the book loses a half-star.The prologue really isn't a prologue. It should have been marked as chapter one instead. I feel as if it was marked prologue because its a writing trend right now.Speaking of the first section, there was a lot of emotion packed in there. The battle cry between Andry and Sir Grendel "With me!" DANG, that was a gut punch! The "With me" battle cry was well-placed and impactful in the moment when re-used, carrying both emotion and hope.Aveyard is great at taking a moment within her setting to listen and observe it. It feels cinematic as the author uses all five senses to amp up the tension or conflict. A great example is page 312, last paragraph (hardcover edition). The characters are all well-layered. Their relationships develop in meaningful ways as the plot thickens. They also provided some fun lines, like "She's seen our faces and she won't stop rhyming. We need to kill her." Hehehe, dark humor.Overall, this is an epic read with shifting alliances, a budding found family, and high fantasy action. If the word choices for character reactions were better diversified, this would be a solid 5 stars. Otherwise, 4.5 stars.

Love, Magic, and Adventure: A Review of Victoria Aveyard's 'Realm Breaker'
As a romance author, I was intrigued by Victoria Aveyard's "Realm Breaker," a thrilling fantasy novel that blends magic, action, and romance. This book is an epic adventure that takes readers on a journey through a richly imagined world full of danger and wonder. The characters in "Realm Breaker" are a diverse and dynamic group, each with their own unique personalities and motivations. Corayne an-Amarat, the main character, is a fierce and determined young woman who discovers she has the power to save her world from destruction. She is joined by a band of misfits, including a charming thief named Dom, a skilled warrior named Sorasa, and a mysterious mage named Erida. The romantic subplot between Corayne and Dom is both sweet and satisfying. Aveyard deftly weaves their relationship into the larger narrative, adding a layer of emotional depth to the story. The slow-burn romance between them is a welcome break from the intense action scenes and adds a touch of lightness to the overall tone of the book. What I loved most about "Realm Breaker" is the world-building. Aveyard has created a complex and detailed universe that is both familiar and unique. The magic system, the political intrigue, and the various cultures all feel fully realized and add to the richness of the story.Overall, "Realm Breaker" is a fantastic novel that will appeal to fans of both fantasy and romance. Aveyard's writing is engaging and her characters are compelling. I'm excited to see how "Realm Breaker" and its themes of courage, love, and sacrifice will inspire readers of "Fated to Love You."I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for an exciting and immersive reading experience. With a book as thrilling as "Realm Breaker," I can't wait to see what she does next!

The story itself is fine, the way it's written...not so much
Took me months to finally finish this book, mainly due to the way the book is written. While the writing itself is impeccable, there are entire paragraphs that often repeat the same thing verbatim and those paragraphs take up a lot of needless space that a simple sentence would have sufficed. This bogs down the pacing a lot, and at times I found myself skimming over these long-winded paragraphs to get back to the meat of the story. As for the story itself, it's a pretty standard quest high fantasy, like Lord of the Rings, but closer to 'Dragon Age.' Especially 'Dragon Age Inquisition' this book is essentially that video game in word form. Don't know if this was unintentional or not, but that is beside the point.I did enjoy the story for the most part, but the main heroine was a typical everyday woman and was pretty boring to follow. She's the 'I don't know if I can do this' or the 'why me?' coming to age protagonist. In all honesty, I feel like if Erida, the queen, was the main character then this book would have elevated to some high points. I say that because Erida is a pretty self-confident individual who has her moments of doubt but always pushes toward what she wants in the long run. It would have been interesting to follow her as the main character as opposed to the one we get.The other characters were all right in their respected roles. You've seen their kind in other fantasy works, so if you're a seasoned reader of this genre, they won't surprise you much.In the end, this book is a well-written, typical medieval high fantasy adventure novel. If you are a YA reader, this book may disappoint since most of the YA tropes are either subverted or hardly there at all. This book is more of a traditional fantasy novel than any modern YA fantasy novel.

Fast paced, Epic Fantasy with Multiple POVs
This book will take you by the hand and together you will jump into an adventure so grand and exciting that you won‘t want to put it down again. Interesting world building and character development, Aveyard typical reveals and such great tension and a sense of urgency. I loved all the characters but Sorasa Sarn has to be my favorite!Magic portals to different realms, pirates, assassins and a kingdom in the balance. This might just be my new favorite epic fantasy read - definitely among my Top 5 of 2021 and the year isn’t even over! <3

overrated
98% details, 2% plot if that. The beginning of the book is spent to paragraphs describing characters that end up dying 2 sec later.
