Louie: Season 2

Louie's Best Episode
I'm mainly writing a review here because no one else has. After I watched this episode a day after it aired (a few months ago), I went online to see if anyone else thought it was as good as I did and there were already hundreds of reviews on a bunch of different tv message boards discussing how good it was. If you see one episode of this show, it should probably be this one, and if you've seen a few and liked any of them, this will be one of your favorites.Louie picks his kids up from school a day before leaving for Afghanistan on a USO tour, and is forced to bring home and take care of the class's pet ducklings for the night. Upon getting to Afghanistan, he realizes one of his daughters put one of the ducklings in his backpack "to keep him safe." Already out of his element being in a war zone, he now has to take care of this little baby duckling. Accompanying him are some barely-18 NFL cheerleaders, and a country music star who opens for him by singing heartfelt songs about what it means to be an American soldier. The group of performers has to travel by helicopter from base to base doing various shows and entertaining whatever troops are there. It's not snide or awkward; it's extremely heartfelt. While it's a merging of Louie with American Service (which isn't an easy mix), it's also somehow Louie at his best. The tone comes across just right, and the episode goes above and beyond what you would expect.

One of the best comedy series of all time
Louie is such a smart and funny show. Such a shame it got canceled.

Well done
I don't get cable TV but I saw a Louis CK video on YouTube and thought he was uniquely funny - so I decided to see what his show is like. Really glad I did. It's well made, well acted, and uniquely funny. Even the little girls who play his daughters amaze me in their acting abilities. And maybe best of all are the audio commentaries (on selected shows). I watch the show first, and then immediately play it again with the commentary, getting perspectives and insights while the show is still fresh in my mind. There is foul language, so I can't show it to various family members, and that's a shame, but oh well. And I can't figure out why the s___ word is spoken freely while the f___ word is bleeped. I guess the former is cool but the latter is gross. That's ok, it just proves we humans are idiots. Somehow this makes me feel more a part of the crowd...Oh, that reminds me. The show tends to make me more introspective, too. That's what I mean - it's a great show.

GREAT SERIES TO EXPLORE
This series is so rewarding in how it never seems to rest on it's own success and is always seeking out interesting new aspects of life to explore through the comedic lens of Louie CK. The commentary tracks on a few of the episodes are PRICELESS for fans like myself adding another layer of appreciation for all the work and thought that goes into each episode. My only beef at all with this series is WHY FOX DOES NOT RELEASE THE REST OF THE SEASONS ON BLU RAY!?!?!?!?!

Too good for tv
The scene in the subway with the violin virtuoso and the bum giving himself a bottle bath is almost too good for television. It's a real shame sex makes people so crazy. Louie CK should have been the next George Carlin.

I love Louie C
I love Louie C.K., but his brand of humor is not for everyone. He shares his views, no matter how politically incorrect, on anything he wants. He is hilarious, correct on just about everything that he criticizes, and his clever delivery is addicting. I love his world view and his laments on being a parent. He is inappropriate, but nobody could truthfully call him out. He seems to be compassionate, humble, and kind of mean, all at the same time. Sometimes he is so vulgar that I cringe, but I always come back for more. Don't watch with your children; even if they are fifty.

A good series, but not for the squeamish
I've followed Louis CK's career for many years, and I relate well to his sense of humor: ironic and wry. This series deals with many of the grim issues that men face during mid-life and after going through relationship troubles. The short episodes are frank and gritty, making them unsuitable for a mixed audience; however, if you can overlook the language and some of the over-the-top situations Louie uses to make his points, there is some useful, ponderous subject matter being dealt with. This isn't a laugh-out-loud kind of show; expect more of a slightly-pained, groaning chuckle and an unusual, philosophical take on the middle-aged, modern male.

Worth watching.
Odd but compelling.

Louie CK - the most interesting comedy around today
As a fan of curb your enthusiasm and other comedies of this genre I was hopeful of this series. But as it turns out, it's better than that. Louis CK presents a form of comedy that is raw, vulnerable, surreal and at times achingly funny. He completely nails what it is like to be a middle aged, ordinary man (while at the same time being ridiculously successful in real life). Highly recommended.

A truly special series, and I found Season 2 even better than the outstanding Season 1
"Louie" Season 2 is even better than Season 1, and I cannot give it higher praise. It is a wonderful pleasure and a relief to get television that does not ask you to dumb yourself down for it because it has dumbed itself down for you.I wrote the following in my review of the Season 1 DVD set, and the same applies for this one:"This is an outstanding television series, a very intelligent comedy show. The more I watch work by Louis C.K., the more my respect for him grows. I watched a couple of "Louie" clips on Youtube and then immediately placed my order to buy this set, and am quite pleased with my sagacity. I suggest anyone who's dithering on this to do the same--if a few "Louie" clips do not 'get' you, then this is probably not for you. If they do, then congratulations, you have many hours of wonder-filled pleasure ahead of you."The DVD set arrived in time and in good condition, and played perfectly well on my laptop.
