Great fantasy/allegory!
After reading reviews of this book for the past three years, I finally got around to reading it—amazing how long a book can sit in the Kindle before it makes it to the top of the TBR list! What a story. I don’t normally like fantasy, and I easily put this down during the first few chapters, but by the time I reached the 75% mark, I couldn’t stop. I kept reading until I reached the conclusion—and then wished that I had the other books in the series. My children had the same response, and begged me to buy the other books. They wanted them badly enough that they told me they wanted to do the unit studies with the others books, as they were doing with this first one, so I ordered the others. Now, we can’t wait for them to arrive! One warning: I am not allowing my children who are younger than ten to read the books. There are some graphic descriptions of demonic creatures and the death of a person during a fight.

great book
This is a very good book with a wonderful message. I love how it shows how our decisions can affect how much light we are able to share with others.

Great Christian adventure but drawn out
This is a great series for Christian kids but I think the age range would be better between 10-13. I think younger kids would have a hard time understanding the true meaning unless read with an older child or teen to explain it. As an adult I’ve enjoyed this series but after the third book I feel it is getting too drawn out. I didn’t know that I’d have to wait for the next two books to be published before finding out what happens.

Wonderful story!
In a world where miracles are born from honor and virtue, the darkness can truly be overcome. Three children must protect the Tower of Light against the intrigues of the Dark One. Unsure who to trust, they find strength in each other and in the powerful weapons their father has sent them. Allen has written a hearty adventure filled with exciting action that keeps the pages turning. His story is for people of all ages and all beliefs and inspires the reader to stand up for goodness, kindness, and honor. Keep writing Allen!

An Intense Book but Full of Hope
I don’t read a lot of middle grade but am always looking for great stories for that age group. This one is exceptional for several reasons.A strong story with great pacing, twists, and turnsLikable characters who are realistic. Aiden, Lauren, and Ethan try but don’t always make the best choices.Great world building. I liked the American frontier meets fantasy setting.

Content is great; Needed a type editor!!
It frustrates me when books this good have not been sifted through with a fine tooth comb to remove the grammatical errors, extra words, typos, etc. The content is there!!! There is action, character development, intrigue, animals - all the elements necessary for keeping kids begging for more and wanting to discuss it. I will continue buying and reading this book series to my kids but I almost feel weird about recommending them to others. They must be self published or something because no legit publisher would allow that. Such a bummer!

An encouraging and thoughtful read
It is always hard to find a Christian fiction book for kids these days that is well written and able to keep their attention. Light of Mine does both. This story is engaging and keeps a pace that makes you want to keep reading. Growing up on the like of CS Lewis, one of my great disappointments with newer Christian children's fiction is that it tends to make the reading level low and basic. I was pleasantly surprised that this author does not do that.Growing up I would sing This Little Light of Mine in Sunday School, children's choir, and with my parents. Seeing the connection in this book and how the author cleverly used the song was thought provoking. Even as an adult, it made me stop and think. The hope the book gives was an encouragement as well.Listening to the book made it even more fun. The narrator has a great voice and really brings the book to life. When my kids were young, we would listen to audiobooks in the car or at night we would sit around the stereo...I could see my kids wanting to listen to this book and really enjoying it.My only caution....This book might be intense for some readers.I would recommend this for older elementary children and up. It would be a great read for homeschooling children.I was given a copy of this audiobook by Celebrate Lit. No monetary compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
