The black plates are not steel, they are aluminum. Aluminum melts at less than half the temperature as steel and it would not survive a house fire. I have bought the steel plates before (the silver color plates) and they are fantastic, they do the job well and great quality, but not the black plates.

Very durable steel plates great for storing seed phrase.

I purchased a set of engraver tips for my dremel with this item. Your seed phrase of 12 or 24 words in a specific order are the only thing that will restore your wallet if you forget your password and you will lose all the crypto you had in that wallet. With the word seed phrase, you can restore your wallet withing a couple of minutes. These plates are made of quality aluminum and once the words are engraved on them, they will last a very long time. I keep mine in my safe but they can be put in your wallet also if you need to take them on the go. I would highly recommend everyone who has a crypto wallet with crypto inside to have one of these for each wallet so you can never get locked out and lose your investment.

The black plates look and feel like anodized aluminum.Not a huge problem, just not as fire resistant as the 304 Stainless.

It was exactly what I thought it was plus more. You get the 2 plates that are laser engraved for your pass words and the top plates were exactly the same Lazer engraving. You get 4 plates that you can engrave if you want to plus the hardware to bolt them closed too.

Bought the black "steel" plates. They are not 304 steel nor steel. They are aluminum. Some came bent but all are easily bent with little to no effort. Durability goes out the window with these. You're better off going to a Home Depot and getting two actual steel plates and stamping your seedphrases. Really disappointed in this product.

Laser etched numbers an lines are clear and well etched. Plenty of space to use ⅛ stamps to securely keep seed storage

The black plates are definitely not stainless steel. They are way softer and lighter than stainless. This is very obvious when engraving. You have to be careful not to cut through them, whereas genuine stainless plates take more work to engrave with the same tools.

A bit disappointed that on pictures these plates look like they have one for writing words and the second one is blank and used to cover the words.But its not. If you want to hide them you would need a second plate out of 4 included to flip it and cover. Its just a strange conceptBasically you need 4 plates to have a set of 2 hidden seeds.But for the price its fine..Also i will a pen would be included. But again for the price its alright

Was actually expecting a thin piece of metal but its quite a solid piece of brushed steel. Slightly bigger length and width than a regular credit card. Thickness is around double that of a standard credit card.I bought a separate tungsten carbide engraver pen but it's still fairly hard to write on the metal.You can use the included screws to put two pieces together or just have 4 pieces separately for 4 different seed phrases - can give one to a family member or friend. Each plate has space for 24 words.

It roughly and broardly provides what is described but, certainly doesn't live up to expectations of the purchased
