If I cover a balloon how long roughly do you think it will take to dry ?

First, you need to throw away the directions.  Use a rectangular plastic container, put in a sponge in, and add enough water so it's below the height of the sponge.  Then, cut your strips and pat them on the sponge.  The plaster will stay on the strip instead of in the water.  The first time I used plaster wrap to make a mold, it took ...forever to dry!  That's what it seemed like.  I've since learned to use a hair dryer until the mold can hold its shape and then "cure" it in the oven at about 300 F until it's completely dry.  Depending on the thickness of the mold, and its size, it could take an hour...or two...or three.  You can tell it's completely dry when it is no longer cool to the touch.  It will remain at room temperature.  And its weight and color will be noticeably lighter.  Leave a hole large enough to get the popped balloon out, then cover the hole with more plaster before curing.

Serious question. Can I use this to mold my ass?

Yes, but you'll probably need help.  Many pregnant women make molds of their pregnant bellies.  I molded my face, and found that if you use it according to directions, it makes a big mess and most of the actual plaster ends up in the water.  I used a rectangular plastic container and placed a 4" sponge in the bottom, then poured in enough water so that the surface of the sponge was still above the water line.  That allowed me to be able to pat the plaster wrap on the sponge and get the perfect amount of moisture on the wrap without losing any of the plaster.  If you think it's not moist enough to hold, you can always take the sponge, squeeze out some of the water and pat it on the mold to even everything out.  And be sure you make the mold thick enough.  The larger the mold, the thicker it needs to be.

i want to make a gag cast will this work?  I will need to be able to cut it off though.  thanks

Yes.  You can mold the cast in 2 pieces (like a peanut shell), use a hair dryer to dry it enough so that it holds its shape, then put it in the oven at about 300F so it will be completely dry, maybe an hour or two or three (depends on thickness), Be sure to use pot holders so you don't get burned, then when it's hard (and cool to the touch), place the limb into it, and place a few moistened strips along the "seams" to keep it closed.  Use a hair dryer to dry the newly added strips.  You will only need to cut through the added strips to remove it.
