My favorite toothpaste
This is my favorite toothpaste to date. I will never go back to using Toms or any other brand. The flavor is wonderful and leaves my teeth feeling great and fresh

The new version of this item is totally different! Its toothpaste is BLACK!
I have been using Lita toothpaste (purchased from dentist) since June, 2023. This time, ordering it from Amazon, its label says "new", and its formula has changed! The previous version had tan toothpaste and was grainy. This version is an ugly black & is less grainy. It blackens my mouth & my sink! UGH! Who would ever make a BLACK toothpaste! I want the original version of this toothpaste! I received 2 tubes of this & will return them if I can get the previous version instead! Definitely, this is not an improved. version! The ad did not state that it is a different version. On Amazon I ordered the same version as before but its toothpaste was not black! It was tan. Please advise.

It was so-so, wasn't foil sealed.
I wanted to try this natural toothpaste which does not have fluoride. The cap is bamboo and was unique. The scent though was almost like an incense or diffuser oil blend. It has a spicy scent and taste. The toothpaste was not foil sealed, so that lost a star from me. As I brushed, it didn't foam up very well which was fine but the taste and texture were unusual. I didn't have that slick, clean smooth feeling on my teeth like I normally do after brushing. I am not a huge fan of cinnamon and felt like I was tasting incense or something earthy/spicy. It's just not for me.

A worthwhile splurge if you are looking for a very different herbal toothpaste.
When it comes to products like this, I think it's important to treat one's self, especially if it adds a little pampering or luxury into one's morning routine. You think of starting the day and the routine you do each morning plays a big part in your attitude throughout the day. I developed a strong like for Marvis Licorice flavoured toothpaste and at first the idea of paying 2-3 times as much for toothpaste made me question adding it to my morning routine but I found that I began to actually look forward to brushing my teeth in the morning, so it became worth it in the long run. If something helps you enjoy your morning routine and get a good start/end to the day ... who is to say this is any more expensive than having a nice shot of liquor or glass of wine before bed?I did a lot of research into it's ingredients and found some very interesting stuff ..._ Bamboo powder is a very gentle buffering agent which will shine teeth and make them cleaner without damaging tooth enamel. Silica is another natural ingredient which helps whiten teeth and remove food particles. Herbalbrite is the 'proprietary root and herb blend' which freshens and cleans teeth, according to Raiz's advertising.- Aloe Vera is listed as one of the early ingredients on the label. I researched AV mouthwash on pubmed, which mentioned that this is being looked at as a way to help poor dental care in developing and underdeveloped countries. Aloe is relatively cheap and easy to grow and harvest and evidence shows that it is fairly equally effective in reducing periodontal disease within 15-30 days of usage as Chlorohexidine-based mouthwashes (Listerine Extra Strength) which are used to treat gum bleeding and gingivitis. So this ingredient passes the test. It also significantly reduced plaque buildup in a study.- Green Tea ... more companies are adding Green Tea into their toothpastes because it is shown to significantly reduce VSC levels (volatile Sulphur compounds) which are one of the leading causes of bad breath and odor.- Grapefruit Seed ... This is becoming a popular ingredient in many oral care products as it kills bacteria, fungus, parasites and disinfects.- Neem ... This extract is popular in Ayuvedic medicine for soothing and protecting teeth and gums.- Golden Seal ... Stevia is a natural sweetener. I've never heard of it being used in toothpaste but will add a sweet taste without the damage that sugar will do to your teeth. The one ingredient I did not understand was Yerba Mate. This is a form of plant-based caffeine, used as an alternative for coffee and usually harvested in South America. I could find no research regarding its effects on oral health ... and in fact, some studies claim that it can actually cause oral cancer with prolonged usage. Perhaps the absorption into one's gums could cause some sort of energy? I am puzzled by the addition of this ingredient. There is also a witch's brew of essential oils such as peppermint, red thyme, cinnamon bark, Lavender, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus and Vanilla Bean. I assume that these are for taste and smell. Regarding the taste, beyond the price it seems like this is a sticking point for some people. While most mouthwash is laden with synthetic peppermint flavours, this is more like a herbal gum or green drink you'd get for breakfast. It almost has a biscuit taste. I don't agree with some of the other reviews which says it tastes bad but what doesn't come to mind is toothpaste ... there is not much minty flavour and the herbal note comes out a lot stronger. It also is a tan colour which almost reminds me more of wood putty than toothpaste. The packaging is beautiful. A white tube with clean typeface and a light wooden cap ... it looks fantastic on a sink, especially when paired with tubes of this brand's mouthwash, which I also have. They compliment each other in both looks and taste. It has a wonderful 'hipster' vibe and I wouldn't hide this in a medicine cabinet. If you are looking for something different than your average toothpaste and hate the taste of mint, this might be something you want to look into. The ingredients are quality and it doesn't cost much more than a premium toothpaste like Marvis. Give it a try if you want a little splurge to add to your morning routine.
