It won't work on your shoes. The powder becomes tacky from the heat of your hands and the vigorous rubbing of your hands together.

Q: Does this product leave any residue on the things you touch?

it does not leave any residue. I have been using it for basketball for 30 years. It is heat activated - you must rub your hands vigourously to "set" it.
