ORIGINAL REVIEW 2013: I held off on writing this review until my wife and I slept on this bed for one entire year.After toiling for months over which mattress to invest in we decided on this one. First off the mattress was very reasonably priced; the king sized we bought was less expensive than the Sealy innerspring mattress we were replacing (after eleven years) by ~$500. Regardless of the price, this mattress was a great choice. The delivery took several days and came in a vacuum sealed bag. After I brought it up my stairs I placed it on the 7.5” tall box spring (which has 3” support slats) and unwrapped it. I would suggest not breaking the vacuum seal until the mattress is in place because it expands quickly and can be difficult to move once it is expanded. Also be sure that the mattress is facing the right side up. After a few minutes the mattress was at about 90% thickness, after several hours it was fully expanded. We left the window open in our bedroom for the afternoon to let the chemical smell dissipate. When bedtime came the bed was sufficiently aired out and the chemical smell was noticeable only if you really jammed your nose into the mattress. As an aside, my wife and I were prepared to sleep in a spare bedroom if the smell was still too much but we encountered no such problem.Now for the good parts; standard sheet sets fit perfectly on this mattress and laying on the bed was extremely comfortable (analogous to the TempurPedic we tested while buying a different mattress for one of our kids). The memory foam feel is quite different in a good way; supportive but not overly firm. When I was researching memory foam mattresses I got quite confused by the fact that one reviewer would say too firm and the next would say too soft - while referring to the same mattress. After sleeping on the mattress I could rate sleep quality this way: the memory foam becomes very tailored to your body, it feels firm at first but as the foam compresses it supports your body weight in just the right places. The softness feel comes as you sleep on it, it stays soft and comfortable (and at the same time supportive) without feeling like you are sinking into quicksand. It is really great.After sleeping on it for one year and four seasons, I can say that the mattress is still as comfortable as day one. I am a 230lb oaf and my wife is very petite yet we both love the feel of this mattress. There is no warping or hammock-ing of the foam where either of us sleep. Yes, it is a tad warmer in the summer but nothing too drastic.All-in-all this Sleep Innovations mattress is a terrific mattress and an excellent buy. The 12” height is plenty thick and does not make you feel like you have to jump up to get into it like the 14” did. After sleeping on an otherwise high quality spring bed while on vacation, my wife and I both commented on how we could never go back to a non-memory foam mattress again. This was our favorite Amazon purchase EVER and I highly recommend this mattress.Despite my superlatives, keep in mind that what makes a mattress good is a very subjective thing; what is comfortable to me may not be for you - so I attempted to describe this mattress' attributes as best as I could. Hopefully this review helps you decide if it will be a good choice for you. I attached a few pictures for reference.UPDATE 5/1/2015: This bed is still comfortable and it is holding up very well. The foam still compresses and releases as when new and there has been no lumping or hammock-ing. A few months ago I did rotate it 180 degrees to shift the areas that are laid upon as that was recommended to us by other several reviewers (thanks to them!).Still give a full five stars as my wife and I love this bed.UPDATE 11/16/2020: After a bit less than nine years, my side of the bed started to get a little lumpy, presumably from uneven recoiling of the foam after I get up. We loved this bed so much that we ordered an identical one to replace it and the new one seems just as good thus far.

My partner and I moved into our own place and had a really old mattress that we'd been sleeping on for a few years that was passed down to us. We've never boughten a mattress before and were hesitant buying online, but we didn't have a lot of money to buy a super nice, expensive mattress. For the price, we bit the bullet and we couldn't be happier. It was a major comfort jump for the both of us because we have back pain especially from the old bed. We still have it almost a year later and we still enjoy climbing into bed every night. I definitely don't regret this decision and I would buy again in the future.

The days of paying arms and legs to buy a comfortable mattress is gone. This mattress is a good example. I had a guest staying at my home and I needed to buy a mattress. I had bought this mattress before and I was happy to buy it again. The guest was impressed how comfortable the mattress was. I had also bought a bed frame and a zippered mattress encasement. I plan to put the mattress in a storage once the guest leaves. The mattress encasement was to protect the mattress from dust while it in stirage storage.

The bed is comfy. However I can feel a slight dent in the middle of the bed where my husband sleeps and I slide down the hill at night.I bought this bed because my sister has it in her guest room and it was the best sleep ever. I couldn't feel my husband move on the other side of the bed. We weren't so lucky with this bed, and I believe hers is a 10" where ours is the 12" mattress.

I just received this mattress yesterday. I opened the plastic and it started to expand. I did not notice any smell to it whatsoever. I waited a few hours, threw a sheet on it and fell asleep. It was very comfortable, and I slept well. Overall, I am very happy with this mattress so far.

Love my mattress, got for a long stay at a friend's house, worth it when I buy a new bed for my house I will get a full size one 🙂

I didn't know what to expect buying a mattress online. What if I didn't like it? Could I return it? Or was I stuck with it? The price was good as were the reviews. Enough 5 star reviews to make me say "Yes, let's try it". I'm glad I did.You can hear the whoosh when you first open it. Kind of cool to watch as it expands. It took 2 days for the mattress to fully flatten, but it was vacuum sealed in a box 20 times smaller.I smashed my face into the mattress to "smell" it. Yes, there was some smell. But nothing when walking around the room. The smell was gone with a day or so. Clean, fresh sheets will help hide the smell if you're the sensitive type.Yes, it is a bit warmer than a coil mattress due to the foam density. Is this a bad thing? Not for me. Instead of using a sheet, blanket, and comforter I now just use a sheet. Not having all the covers on my glorious nakedness is quite nice and a welcome change. I can see where the added warmth will benefit people living up north.Is it comfy? Yes, but it took me a few sleeps to get used to it. It's quite different feeling than a coil mattress. No noise and I don't get that 'bouncy' feeling. I would call it medium-firm, which is just right for me. If you have any concerns just head over to Costco, they have the same mattress, just a different brand name.But is a foam mattress Sex Friendly? It is excellent for sex as the mattress is super quiet unlike a coil. But there is no bounce. Some people love a bouncy mattress for sex. If you need a mattress to make yourself bounce you're doing it all wrong. Get those hips moving! You can use the entire mattress...middle, top, sides, or bottom. The foam allows a bit of traction meaning you stay mostly in one spot, instead of launching your partner through the headboards. One major issue...stains. Foam stains badly and generally cannot be cleaned like a coil mattress. A mattress cover will help or wear a full-body condom. Your choice.All-in-all, I'm very happy with my purchase, especially since it was sight unseen. The price cannot be beat, delivery was fast, and set-up was fun to watch.

I once rented an AirBNB and it had a Sleep Innovations Taylor in the bedroom. I got the best sleep of my life three nights in a row. The bed was very very firm, but over the course of a few minutes it would adjust to your body perfectly and you felt a paradoxical combination of feeling both weightless and supported at the same time. I was stunned at how amazing this bed was, and I lifted the sheets so that I could look at the tag and see what it is. It was a Sleep Innovations Taylor. I wrote it down and planned to buy this bed. A year later I finally purchased it here on Amazon. When it arrived, the box said Taylor, but the bed inside was a Sleep Innovations Marley. I thought they sent me the wrong bed, and placed a replacement order. But since the box said it was a Taylor, I worried that they would send me the same one again, so I decided to call Sleep Innovations on the phone and speak to them. After doing some research, the agent told me that Marley is the new name for the Taylor, they assured me that it was the same bed, just the name has changed. So I cancelled the replacement order and opened the shrunken vacuum sealed bag that the mattress came in, the bed sprung into its full size and at this point it became impossible to return.After giving the bed the requisite amount of time to spring up into shape, I tried it out and I knew immediately that it was not the same bed. It is extremely soft, way too soft in fact. Your body sinks into it very quickly and makes you feel like you're sinking. I remembered some of the Amazon reviews of the Taylor written by people who found the original bed too firm, claiming that they expected the bed to soften over time but it somehow actually got firmer over time. So, I crossed my fingers and hoped that this bed would firm up. I've not been using this bed for over a year and I absolutely hate it. It is actually getting softer and after 3 months it became unusable because it wears very quickly and becomes permanently dipped in the place where you sleep. I have actually given up sleeping on it, and moved it to a guest bedroom. I went back to using my super cheap $300 mattress from Jysk, which is a lot firmer and lasts longer than this bed. Occasionally I try sleeping in this bed for a few days and it is horrible, you sink very deeply into it. It actually so soft that I wonder if it's defective.I can't begin to express how disappointed I am with this purchase. I thought I was buying a bed I knew and already experienced, a bed that gave me the best sleep of my life. Instead I got a different bed, with a different name, and a completely different firmness profile, and not only that, but it actually wears very quickly and after a few months of use has permanent dips that do not re-spring. I wake up at 7AM and don't go to bed until 11PM, so the bed has 16 hours every day to spring back up, but it doesn't.If you're looking for a firm bed, or if you experienced the Taylor before, be aware of this. If you order this bed and receive a "Marley", do NOT open it, just send it back. You will regret opening it, I promise.

I had purchased a memory foam mattress 8/9 years ago and it was like sleeping in a cloud. Sadly due to an accident it got damaged and I found myself searching for a new one. Since this is the same company that I purchased my first one from it should be great still! Wrong! Bottom line this is a very firm mattress, not medium, but very firm. There is no cradling at all and nothing is plush about it. It is like sleeping on a carpeted floor.It did inflate as expected and is slightly wider than it is supposed be. There were problems with delivery but that is neither Amazon or Sleep Innovations fault.I finally put a 2" gel memory foam topper on it and it is sort of okay at best, if I had a 4" thick on it might be better. But I am still very disappointed.When I examined my old mattress I found that that the bottom 6" base foam is not as firm as the new mattress and the upper 6" was made up of 4 layers of softer foam and memory foam which may account for it's fantastic comfort. The new mattresses that Sleep Innovations and most other companies sell seem to be sold for durability not comfort, with minimal layers for comfort. I guess if you make it as hard as a brick it will last for the 20 year warranty.In checking around no one seems to sell decent memory foam mattresses at a reasonable price anymore and I would suggest buying a standard foam mattress and purchasing memory foam toppers to improve the comfort.*After reviewing my comments I feel I might have been a little bit harsh. The first couple nights it was terrible like sleeping on a low pile carpet and after a few more nights it is like sleeping on a thick shag carpet. If you sleep on your back it is likely to be sort of okay but not if you sleep on your side.I did try to improve things by having the heat up in the room and a fan circulating the air.The off gassing odor did dissipate reasonable quickly to my nose. I will continue to do this for the next while in hopes it might help to soften it up.

Have no idea if I actually received a Marley as there was no identification on the mattress or box...... but no reason to believe I didn’t as it matches the description. Unpackaged it in the morning and slept comfortably on it that night. It inflated immediately and there was no odour. Would describe it as Medium firm as expected...... good support and comfort for a 6ft 180lb side and back sleeper. My habitual lower back pain has been noticeably relieved and I am sleeping longer and deeper. I had planned on spending more than twice as much on a Costco Novaform but decided on the Marley after reading the Consumer Reports reviews...... and finding the Marley price further reduced by a sale! I am very satisfied with the Marley, especially the value..... can’t be beat!

The mattress is definitely different than a coil. You really sink in when you sit on it. But for sleeping it has been working for me so far. It is on the firm side if that is what you like. I am a 50/50 back to side sleeper . Have had no stiffness in the morning issues. hope it lasts. Some reviews I came across said it has a short lifespan. Time will tell. Its always a risk when you buy a mattress before you try.
