An awesome action packed third person shooter
Im gonna start by saying this game single-handedly eliminated all credibility I had for game reviewers. Pretty much every negative point stated by this people is false. The game is pretty much perfect in what you`d expect from a shooter.Graphically there is not much to say. The game looks fantastic, your character is nicely detailed as are the imposing Akrid. There are some graphical glitches here and there particularly clipping. Music and sound effects are dead on with pumping musical scores that accompany the action and awesome weapon sound effects. (I just love the pumping sound of the rocket launcher reload ;)). The controls are tight and responsive. In terms of replay value this game has tons, so its defenitily worth a full retail price in that this game will last you for some time. The campaign is lengthy (around 15 the first playthrough) with multiple difficulty modes to tackle. Then there`s the multiplayer which is shockful of playmodes and every battle is hectic and action packed. Then there is the training levels which help you hone your skills as well as serve as a challenge arena which reward you with points to use in the slot machine where you buy your upgrades, perks, weapons, and other goodies. The only complain I do have in this part is that there are way to many useless stuff (emotes, war names) that you might get over the good stuff (abilities, weapons). Although I like those extra things I just wish the ratio of extras to perks was more balanced. Still its kinda fun hitting the slot machine to see what you get. This game is heavily focused on co-op. For me thats a huge bonus. Being able to play with friends, having to support each other in order to survive is one of the most fun experiences I can have in a video game. Not only is the co-op evident in the campaign but also in some multiplayer modes (special note VS annihilator). But if you choose to go solo I wanna say that if you have never played a shooter or simply lack the common notions of a video gamer, then you can believe what reviewers said, if not you will; as I did; find absolutely nothing wrong with the AI or difficulty of a solo play. If anything solo is kinda easier since the death of the AI partners dont count only yours unlike co-op and the AI IS helpful, it just wont win the game for you. Of course the game is much more fun with friends or human companions but its still enjoyable and challenging on your own. I highly recommend it.

Great Bargain Game
Make no mistake, this doesn't feel like a low-budget game. It has high production values equivalent to Resident Evil 5. It's a shame that the game sold so poorly that they had to heavily discount it in order to move it...which is great for us consumers. It plays very similar to the first, but the emphasis on co-op play is what makes this game stand out--you can play online with 3 others in defeating the ridiculous monsters in this game. The game is a typical 3rd person shooter but the pace at which you move is different from what people are used to, which is probably why it didn't do too well. This isn't a twitch shooter in the Call of Duty fashion. When you first play it, you will immediately look for the run button because you move so sluggishly. There isn't an aim button either which I think was a huge decision blunder. You can zoom in and out by using the up and down on the D-pad, but that only changes the point of view and it is just not intuitive. I recall reading the Rage interview in the latest Playstation magazine and one of the designers answered when asked about the games controls that if such and such millions of gamers bought Modern Warfare 2 and they're accustomed to the "X" button as jump, then you better make your "X" button jump (or something to that effect). Well, if you play this game, you had better adjust to the control scheme which there are several options to choose from, but all aren't good. If you go into the game with these caveats, you will more or less wind up enjoying it.

Great Arcade Shooter
So when Lost Planet 2 came out, I was one of those who read all the negative critic reviews and decided to pass. However I had a friend who played it from day 1 and was raving no stop ever since, so I figured when I saw amazon lower the game to half price 1 day I would give it a try and after playing a week, I wish I would've got the same sooner. The main problem with the critics was that the singlplayer was horrible and the AI was horrible, and that I agree with. However if you play online Co-op or multiplayer versus, the game is so much fun. Playing through the game on all difficulties was a blast, and there is a real difficulty ramp up from normal to hard. Weapons you unlock you can use for both campaign and multiplayer versus which is a plus. Levels can get repetitive though, since it's basically the same formula of fight your way to some boss and take down that boss using a specific strategy.Unlocking weapons, though annoying at first becomes addictive and keeps you wanted to play more and more to unlock everything. Also the PSN don't use mic rumors is pretty much true, although you will find some players who use mics and are willing to chat, which makes that gaming session a particular treat. You will also be gaming with many players from other countries, particularly I see a lot of Japanese players on during their time (late night, early morning for east coast people)Overall if you like an arcade like 3rd person shooter with an addicting unlock mode then Lost Planet 2 is for you!
