My only real critique is the plastic swivel after a few uses it gets harder and hard to use!!
I would seriously recommend you guys stop producing these and make a 2.0 with ceramic as the swivel instead of plastic unfortunately it wears out far too fast and I'm more than willing to spend the extra 5 to 10 dollars extra for it to last a lot longer and I'm sure so are a lot of other people! It's just a thought but for that little extra it wouldn't hurt anything and make you a lot more sought after as a knife sharpening company realistically I shouldn't even be telling you guys this I should just do it myself however humanity should not be like that we need to look out for each other I believe!!!

Not what I had expected
The package arrived and upon opening, it looked like this set had been used a lot already. The steel had a lot of scratches and marks on it and the PVC ball in the center had a lot of wear and tear.I could not use the sharpener properly as the screws that secured the blade in place were not working properly.I returned the item and will not bu buying a replacement.

It works.
Received and set it up and sharpened two knifes so far. Pleased with result. Setting up was a little awkward as allen key (its provided) has to be used each time you reposition your knife ( thought a clamp would have served better. and adjusting knobs require a strong twist to hold on arms. All in all I'm keeping it.

I want to love this, BUTt....there are some shorcomings in the design.
My first impression when unboxing this sharpener was that it seemed to be fairly solidly built. The C Clamp is a beefy aluminum casting with a rubber base ( to not mar the desk, table or countertop surface), and it has a sufficient range of adjustment to fit a variety of mounting surfaces. The photos in the ad and the instruction booklet were useful in setting up initially. It comes in 4 pieces, all readily identifiable, includes an instruction book and a zippered bag to store everything in. The bag was a nice touch since repacking boxes is not my forte.I watched a number of video reviews on Youtube prior to and during setup to clarify the instructions.During setup, I was unable to rotate the blade holder because it could not be pulled clear of the slot. This seemed to be controlled by the screw on the opposite end of the blade holder. After loosening this 2 1/2 turns, I was able to pull the blade holder out and rotate it 180 degrees. This was not mentioned in any reviews. My blade holder had 3 large screws already installed and a spare screw installed where the support rod installs on the C Clamp. The guide rod extension still had some wobble after threading it in to the handle/stone holder which necessitated tightening the knurled brass barrel nut slightly with a set of pliers. The next issue arose when I tried to secure a stone in the stone holder. Several techniques were shown in the videos, but none of them worked for me. The square edged stones provided did not provide a secure grip in the holder, no matter what I tried. The tiniest movement of the stone would immediately loosen the stone and at no point was I able to actually let go of the stone and rotate it to the operating position without fear of dropping and breaking the stone. The included stones don't work for me but are not a total waste. I will put that small box in my camping equipment and use them as whetstones to repair or sharpen a blade in the field.Fortunately I had purchased another set of stones that featured plastic base plates, sloped at each end to fit the notches in the blade holder blocks. This was a wise decision otherwise I would have boxed it all up for return without ever having sharpened a knife. The sloping wedges at the end slipped nicely into place and the stones were securely held. The next issue was fitting a knife in to the blade holder. The ad says this sharpener is suitable for a wide range of cutting implements. I disagree. Sharpening an axe or hatchet in this would be impossible. I did see one video where the blade from a wood plane was sharpened. Scissors are also probably possible, though I did not attempt that yet. Most of the videos showed larger knives (Chef, Santoku, Cleavers and so forth being sharpened). The holder in fact seems designed for this size of knife. It was a challenge to mount a 3" pocket knife in this large holder. I wish a smaller set of jaws was included to facilitate holding smaller knives. All blade holder jaws should be lined with thin rubber or leather to prevent marring more expensive blades.Another issued is the 3 large screws on the holder are designed for counter-sunk holes. The holes in the plate are counter-sunk but the plate is too thin for the size of the screws to seat flush as they should. The front to back width of the holder can also create clearance issues for the sharpening stone when used with smaller knives at shallower angles. A thicker plate with deeper countersinking and a narrower holder could eliminate some of these shortcomings.Other minor issues: - the knurled wheel on the guide ball holder does not allow sufficient torque to prevent the guide ball holder from rotating on the rod during use. I replaced this with the screw from the blade holder extension road stop collar. This allows the guide ball holder to be firmly secured. I quit using the stop coller with the knurled wheel as it fails to secure the collar enough to prevent rotation. It is easier to pull the stone holder rod out of the guide ball, rotate the knife and reinstall the stone holder rod to continue sharpening.I disagree with the instructions on the matter of raising a burr. To properly apex the edge, you must raise a burr full length opposite the side being sharpened. Rotate the knife and repeat an equal number of stroked on the opposite side and again raise a burr. Repeat with fewer strokes which will leave less of a burr each time. A few very light strokes will then remove the majority of any remaining burr. Progress to finer grits and repeat.Learn to strop your edges. Lots of videos available on this subject, watch them, order a strop and practice. It makes a huge difference in the finish on an edge from any sharpening system.
