Allows us to prepare some tasty baked goods on our low carb diet
Hubby and I are low carb dieting and looking for wheat flour alternatives that are lower in carbs. He wasn't sure he would like the hazelnut flavor but after making a few things with it that fit into our diet, he really likes it (me too!). I searched for low carb recipes using hazelnut flour and found crackers and muffins and many other things. I substituted this for graham cracker crumbs to make crust for a dark chocolate mousse made with heavy cream and chocolate. The whole dessert was great (and only about 4 carbs for a nice size serving) but this review is about the hazelnut flour, which made a very tasty crust. I am excited about experimenting with this product for more yummy foods! Some other suggestions are to use it for coating fish or chicken as a low carb breading alternative. Of course, it would be tasty even if you aren't trying to reduce carbs!

A great base for great muffins
The combination of Bob's Red Mill finely ground hazelnuts -- replacing half of the flour in a muffin recipe -- with just a splash of haselnut extract makes for an incredible hazelnut/dark chocolate chip muffin. I run a little bed & breakfast inn, the Anton-Walsh House -- in Hurley, Wisconsin. The guests love the aroma that fills the house when these muffins are cooking. More importantly, they love the rich, nutty flavor this ingredient gives to their first course in the morning. Fresh and tasty, very satisfied.
I just wanted to add that the product we received was extremely fresh and tasty. We recently bought ground hazelnuts (=hazelnut meal/flour) from one of the online stores, and they smelled and tasted rancid. We had to return them right away.Bob's Red Mill hazelnut flour was perfect - very tasty, high quality product.Hazelnut is often used in Europe for cakes and cookies, but for some reason it is not a very popular nut in the US.I will certainly stay subscribed to this product since I cannot locate it in any of the stores in our area.Just a reminder, keep it in your fridge to preserve freshness.

All Bob's Red Mill products are top quality. But Hazelnut meal is a special treat. Use it in everything from piecrusts to cookies. Add to multigrain bread mixes for good flavor and added protein. Add it to your waffle batter! I really like this stuff.

comfort food!
I grew up in Europe, and missed having hazelnut products after moving to the USA. Whenever I bake with hazelnuts, it makes the perfect comfort foods! Hazelnut cookies, hazelnut cake with mocha butter icing and dark chocolate... I have cracked them myself, and ground them in my coffee grinder. Now that I have found them online, I will be saved the effort! Excellent product!Definitely store in the freezer when not using. Don't want the oils to go bad, such a waste.

Hands down I love this hazelnut flour
Hands down I love this hazelnut flour. I use it to make paleo chocolate chip cookies and it's like heaven in my mouth. I stick to a grain free diet and wanted to change things up instead of always using almond flour. Couldn't be happier.
