Realistic affirmations for depression and anxiety
As someone who’s dealt with depression for decades, I found the standard positive affirmations didn’t help me because they made me feel even more like a failure. This is not a book that tells you that you can choose your own mood or you can achieve all your dreams but only if you really want it — it recognizes the reality of depression and anxiety and starts with simple but potent reminders like: it’s okay to feel sad or tired; you deserve rest; just being here is enough; you don’t need to be perfect or make every day productive; and other basic concepts that depression and anxiety throw out the window. I cried the first time I read this book because I felt like somebody finally understood what I actually needed to hear in my lowest moments. When I’m depressed, my worst thoughts and fears aren’t that I won’t clinch a promotion, make more money or find a great relationship. No, my brain is trying to convince me that my existence is a burden upon others and that I will always feel this way because I’m inherently wrong. Sometimes people need to hear that they deserve to be here before they can get to the goal-crushing affirmations. And that’s where this book comes in, with empathy and no judgment. The colorful, cute drawings don’t hurt, either.

Cute and Uplifting Book - Great Gift
Recently, I bought this book for my niece who has had a tough past 12 months or so. She was doubting herself a lot, and I felt she needed a little reminder of how awesome her uncle thinks she is. This little book was perfect. There were a few pages in it that I added little bookmarks too because they expressed my feelings for her spot on. Highly recommend this as a gift to make someone smile or lift their spirits.

Not typical self-help book
Well-rounded self help book that goes beyond the cutesy, cliched typical offering. Uses multiple media formats that make for an enjoyable reading experience. Good to read through or dip in and out of.

Beautiful, Colorful Art and Helpful, Encouraging Advice
I've followed The Latest Kate's art online for a while now and recently became one of her Patreon supporters, so I was thrilled to get my hands on this book. It did not disappoint. As someone who often struggles with depressive and anxious thoughts (and someone who loves adorable animal art), I find this book an extremely helpful tool for troubleshooting my misbehaving brain. It contains personal stories from the artist/author about her own struggles with anxiety and depression, helpful coping tips and strategies for dealing with negative thoughts and feelings, and, of course, colorful art of animals, trees, stars, etc., paired with gentle words about self-compassion. The book is positive and encouraging without being preachy. Since it is written by someone with anxiety and depressive symptoms, it does not invalidate the suffering caused by these illnesses or minimize the challenges involved in overcoming them. Instead, it patiently, lovingly meets sufferers where they are, validating their struggles and suggesting possible solutions. I've been turning to the art and words in this book for encouragement and support when I've been feeling low lately, and I expect that I will continue to do so for years to come. I stumbled upon this piece in a time when I really needed it. I have severe social anxiety that makes doing even the most mundane of tasks (such as grocery shopping or running errands) an enormous, sometimes impossible, struggle. This book is like a breath of fresh air that I can hold onto when I feel like I’m drowning. The art is absolutely gorgeous & the messages are powerful. I loved that she included advice from her own experiences & that she was so forthright about her own life & struggles. This book is a beautiful reminder that just as the seasons come & go, so does depression & anxiety. I don’t have social media, so unfortunately I can’t tell Ms. Kate Allan that her book gives me the courage to push past my agoraphobia & live my life. I hope she knows, though, how much her book has inspired others, even in the darkest of times. I’ve shared this book with many people, including my therapist & family members, many of them purchasing copies of their own to show clients. This book is a life raft that I cling to on a daily basis. I am ridiculously grateful for this book. 10 STARS.

Phenomenal book ~ Tremendous help to me after my wife died by suicide ~ A masterpiece for all time.
This is the single most important & helpful book that I’ve ever read. After my wife ended her life by suicide on 10/9/2017; I’ve been searching for anything & everything that would help me navigate through this devastating event. I’ve been suffering from extreme depression, as well as hopelessness.Kate Allan has put her heart into this book. It has been immensely helpful to me during this most difficult period in my life. The combination of words & art are so thoughtfully presented, that it’s unimaginable that anyone could not be positively changed by this masterpiece. This is a book that must have taken a very long time to complete. The artwork alone is superb, and the sayings are so helpful & encouraging.I’m unable to find the words to adequately praise this book. All I can say, is that it’s incredible. It was an absolute delight to read, and an equal delight to view the amazing illustrations. This book is worthy of awards, and should be read by anyone who’s feeling anxious, depressed, or has suicidal ideation.

Great Book So Love this.
I love this book it is amazing for my children and learning how to cope with their emotions and Feelings. I highly recommend.I just saw this one day and my daughter was like momvan I have that colouring book? And I said she already had so many... But when I saved it and looked at it later it was a book with affirmations and strategies.Thank you so much.

Des illustrations d'animaux principalement, très colorées et au style maîtrisé, toujours accompagnées d'un message positif et/ou encourageant. Le livre parfait si vous avez besoin de soutien moral (et parfait à offrir à vos proches qui en auraient besoin également).

Truly Exceptional!
I cannot recommend this book enough. I heard about it at a time when I really needed help and it made such a difference to me. The drawings and words took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so very much, Kate, for sharing your talent and story.

Lovely
Ive see ver drawings on Twitter and more than being very pretty and cherring I find them soothing bc a smiling animal feels so judgement free. I want to try them too (bc I'm terrible) like a coloring book to remember to not he that harsh to my self.

Wonderful book, excellent drawings, very encouraging
First of all, I LOVE this book. The drawings are more than cute and beautiful. The author is an artist who cannot only write wonderfully, but also draw in an excellent way.She shows you how you can encourage yourself when you have to go through difficult times.I always have this book right next to me. It gives great advice. I have been following some of it and it has really helped me to feel better.Needless to say, I also have already ordered the book for some friends who speak English well. It's a beautiful gift. It has been appreciated a lot.Who doesn't love such sweet animals? I can only recommend getting such a book.
