Direct Fit for 1998 Ford Expedition
These "F150 F250/Expedition Lightning Model Headlights Driver Passenger Pair New" were a direct replacement for my 1998 Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer, 350). I followed the instructions to pull the old lens (and bulbs) out and these fit right in with no problems. These new lens came with bulbs too, but I replaced them with "Sylvania 9007 SU SilverStar Ultra Halogen Headlight Bulbs" because we were going on a road trip with lots of back-road night-driving and I wanted the best illumination possible. The combination of these lens plus the new bulbs were excellent (I didn't try the bulbs that the lens came with - the Sylvania's are bright but don't last that long, so I will use them when the Sylvania's burn out). The plastic covers on the old (original) headlights had become very cloudy and seemed to obstruct a lot of light (I had bought a drill lens cleaner kit to try to refurbish the original lens, worked OK for awhile but clouded up again within a few months). These new lens are bright and clear, and surprisingly give the car a new clean look. You do have to fool around with installing and adjusting the lens to get them aimed correctly. I looked at the length of the 3 long screw adjustments relative to the plastic attachments on the old lens and tried to match it on the new lens before I installed them. You have to be careful and get the plastic attachments in the right place before pushing them in place to secure. Seemed to work OK. Ford doesn't make it easy to adjust/ fine-tune the aim once the lens/ bulbs are put in and secured (you can buy a special tool), I had to pull them out, adjust the screws, then put them back in once or twice to get the aim where I wanted them.

More than worth the money
The lights came in less than a week. This is the second time I bought this product. The last time was 2007, so I am very happy with how long they held up. This set is just as good and are great on my truck! Can't beat the price or quality. Highly recommend these lights. They came with bulbs and fit perfect. Took me no time to install, use a screwdriver to help line up the bolts into the holes. My headlights are brighter and look sharp.

Review AND fitting guide for 1997 vehicles
Let me preface this by explaining how to tell if this will fit a 1997 vehicle. The mounting system for headlights changed in July 1996. There is a sticker on the inside of the driver's side door with a date stamp on it, if the date stamp is after 7/96 you should be fine. My expedition was manufactured in 11/96 and these fit fine.--REVIEW--I bought these to replace my old factory lenses. They were fairly dim and I decided I needed something new one night when I was driving in the rain and could barely see the road. I didn't really need anything fancy, just a new set of headlights, and I didn't want to spend a ton of money. I used my current headlight bulbs because they are only a couple years old, I will save the ones that came with these for spares. Here is what I noticed about the light output: it is a lot more "concentrated" than the factory lenses, which makes them brighter. Both the low beams and the high beams have more of a "cut off" point above a certain level that the old factory set didn't have, similar to more modern headlights. I adjusted them to face "up" a little more and this made it better. The light is definitely brighter, even with my old bulbs, but I wouldn't expect to be "blown away" by the improvement in brightness, unless your old headlights are truly awful. The construction of these seems surprisingly solid. I got one stuck when one of the installation clips hung the headlight locking bracket, and basically had to pry it out. It held up well.Make sure your headlight brackets stay out of the way, it will save some trouble during installation. I didn't buy the adjuster wrench (I don't even know much about it), and I did have a little trouble getting everything to fit just right at first, but moving the clips around helped and I got them seated well within a few minutes. One thing I have noticed, the gap between the the headlights and the truck grill is maybe half an inch bigger, which doesn't bother me. No one will ever notice except the person who installed them (you).I will update the review if I have any problems.--UPDATE--Six months later and they are still just as bright as they were when I purchased them. We've had a lot of wet weather and they have not fogged up. I went ahead and ordered new clear side marker lights to go with them, I really like the look. I bought the adjustment wrench and angled them up more, which made the beam pattern cover more ground. You can probably just do it with pliers if you don't want to buy the wrench.

Very nice looking lights!
I decided, after realizing how cloudy my factory housings had become, to do something about it. My options were either to clean my original ones, or to buy a new set. A good cleaning kit will cost at least 20 bucks, and these new ones, with shipping, were $52. I was looking on amazon at the options, and these looked really great, a more modern look than factory. I have a 2000 F150. I received these today, put them on when I got home from work, and a smile came across my face. I made the right choice. Really upgrades the look of an older truck, without looking showy or gaudy, just looks modern. And the big plus is they came with Sylvania bulbs already installed, not some no name bulbs like you might expect at this price point. If you have cloudy housings, and are wondering which route to go, I really recommend buying these. If you decide to clean your old ones, you'll spend $20 and some time cleaning them, and they'll probably turn out ok, or even good. But they'll still be oldish looking lights. These lights are plug and play, and they'll bring a smile to your face, and you'll think "I made the right choice". Get them.
