San Diego Lowriders: A History of Cars and Cruising
R**.
A MUST read book for anyone interested in lowrider history
A vital contribution to Latino history, this book uses photos and personal accounts to tell the history of lowriding in San Diego. The majority of lowriders created car clubs as a way to bring pride to their communities, become experts in new automobile technologies and practice an art form. The book outlines the "Eight Qualities of Lowriding," which show how over time lowriding became a way of life. The book describes the origins of lowriding, the accompanying car clubs and how they advocated for their communities -- communities which often experienced racism and discrimination.Well-written and engaging, I recommend this book to anyone interested in cars, art or Chicano/Latino history.

My son-in-law loved
Wish it had been a hardback. Nice pictures though. The recipient of the book, has a connection with a group written about in the book. The "KLIQUE" I believe it's called. Another worthwhile purchase, and the recipient loved it. Can't beat that.
