I bought these chisels to use in conjunction with a 5/16” hole punch to make belt slots in holsters. Out of the box, not really sharp at all, and the grinding on the edges left a lot to be desired. I’m really only using one out of the set, but with a bit of touch up on my grinder and then a sharpening stone, it works well. If your looking for an alternative to an expensive oblong hollow punch, and are willing to do a little rework on them, they do the job.

These are a great starting point, I have been a fan of co-link, and still am, many other products get bad reviews for sharpness or cosmetic appearance. I don't mind sharpening and cleaning my inexpensive purchases as long as the construction was good. These were not up to par, the bigger punch has an arc to it, not enough to use as a rounder, but enough i can't use for card slots etc...the middle size punch was ground off angle, and the one below it had a pretty bad nick out of the bevel that will have to be reworked from scratch.**Adding updateSi contacted me about this issue and did apologise for the defects in workmanship, he offered a full refund and since I've already reground and finished the problem areas did not request a return. I've reviewed some big name makers other than Co-link and haven't received attentive customer support that could compare. I will continue to give this maker my business for adorable tools and suggest if you get a tool that didn't meet your expectations, to contact Co-link and give them a shot to address the issue. These are really sharp. Cut a good clean line. BUT, was supposed to be 7 pieces. Was only 5. No 30mm or35mm was in bag.

I bought these for cutting fiber gasket material (Fel-Pro Item 3027) . They arrived sharp and without burrs on the cutting edge. The set provides sizes in 5mm increments which was perfect for cutting precision shapes to match the gasket I needed. Using a block of wood under the fiber gasket and a houshold nail hammer, these cut the gasket cleanly and precisely and were faster than using scissors. As a set, I would also recommend Lang Tools 950 11-piece gasket hole punch set for making rounded corners. Between these two items, and using some Prussion Blue dye to transfer the gasket pattern over, I was able to make an Inline 6 cylinder intake manifold gasket in under an hour and with results that exceeded my expectations for being a hand made gasket. I did not rank 5 stars as I have not tried using these with leather making so I cannot attest to their functionality in that craft.

They were exactly what i was looking for, unfortunately as others have said, they are not sharp which makes it difficult to make it through the leather, in fact it doesn't matter how hard i hit the larger ones i cannot currently get them to cut through the leather like i need. the smaller ones do much better, which were the sizes i need most so i am not so disappointed to give it lower stars and knowing i could sharpen them makes it easier to give 4 stars as well.

Think of these as a bit of DIY. They’re metal rods stamped into square cutting edges. That part is done for you. Want a sharp edge? DIY. Want smooth handles? DIY. Want them to stay sharp? DIY. I’m happy to DIY the details because they’re so inexpensive. I knew what I was buying and got exactly that.

Fast delivery, however not as sharp as I would like. I fixed that myself by sharping them to a scalpel edge as i do all my leather cutting tools. Nice set and price for the beginner.

One was a bit rusty when it arrived, but they work fine and it was a great deal for the price.
