Perfect edge every time but NOT for those without patience
It is the perfect tool to use to get the perfect edge you want outside a laser machine. The stone holding arm stays at the exact angle you set it. The blade holder holds it perfectly without movement under light pressure (if you’re not using light pressure you’re going to remove to much material). The sharpening stones are great and go from coarse to polish. There is no other way outside a laser machine to get a edge as precise as you can with this tool. Stay calm, make slow passes and you’ll be satisfied with the outcome.

Pocket knife or scalpel???
I grew up in a VERY small town in the south where every man (and many women) considered a pocket knife as essential as a wallet, keys, etc. As a little kid I used to watch the older men in town sitting on the porch in front of the hardware store whittling and trading knives (two long-standing country traditions) and the only thing guaranteed to bring you more shame and ridicule than not having a knife in your pocket was having a dull knife. There was an old whetstone on the counter in the hardware that was well worn from years of use and it was considered a right of passage for the boys in town to learn how to sharpen their knives. Now, more than 50 years later, I still carry a sharp knife in my pocket everywhere I go. It was always a source of pride for me to be able to put a razor (or near razor) edge on any knife. Many years ago I was given a Lansky sharpener and while the principle of using a fixture to maintain a consistent angle was a good one, I was never able to get the kind of results I would have accepted. I was able to get a better edge free-hand. I stumbled across the Ruixin Pro which uses a similar principle but seemed to be engineered better. Specifically the ball pivot on the Ruixin Pro was a major improvement (in my opinion anyway) over the simple slot design of the Ruixin. I decided to give it a try and see if it worked. Here's what I found...The bad1) There were two screws missing when I opened the case and began assembling the device. I was able to find replacement screws but this was a little bit annoying and is the reason I didn't give it 5 stars.2) You need a way to accurately measure the angle when setting up the sharpener. If you don't have a digital angle finder I highly suggest getting one.3) The thumb screw for adjusting the angle tends to work loose causing the angle to change while sharpening. I took the locking collar off the end of the sharpening rod and used it to help prevent the angle from changing.4) There is a learning curve involved in using this. As others have mentioned GO SLOW! Take your time and get a feel for the device. Use a black marker to mark the edge of your blade so you can see how much metal is being removed. Use the coarser stones to profile the edge then move to the finer grit stones to refine the edgeThe good1) If you do your part, this thing works! I have tried it on everything from high end custom knives to cheap kitchen knives and was able to get an excellent edge on all of them. My every day carry knife has a blade made of M390 which is fairly hard to sharpen but can take a nice edge. After sharpening on the Ruixin Pro and stropping (more on that in a minute) it is like carrying a scalpel in your pocket. Without a doubt the sharpest knife I have ever carried!Tips1) As mentioned earlier GO SLOW! If you try to rush I can promise you won't be happy with the results.2) Check the angle each time you change stones. It only takes a few seconds and helps keep the angle consistent.3) The stones in this kit aren't bad but they wear fast. Spend a few dollars and pick up a set of quality replacement stones (There are several available on Amazon and other places). Specifically I suggest getting a set that includes finer grit stones as well. The finest stone in this kit is marked 1000 but feels coarser. I used these...https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Sharpening-aluminum-diamond-sharpener/dp/B0BFD636Q2/ref=d_pd_sbs_sccl_4_2/144-6470216-8935159?pd_rd_w=wb8ro&content-id=amzn1.sym.7a9b9953-4675-430a-a4f6-ea3f74308c2f&pf_rd_p=7a9b9953-4675-430a-a4f6-ea3f74308c2f&pf_rd_r=RWKHBMFKD10FZP9Z8AQ1&pd_rd_wg=1NQXz&pd_rd_r=2f191522-cc1f-4624-b04a-b736b0e469eb&pd_rd_i=B0BFD636Q2&psc=14) Get a strop! I used this one...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09YCGG64J?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsI coated the strop with this 0-1 micron diamond pastehttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XJZJ1WD?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1Be extremely careful when stropping to only pull the strop towards you (away from the edge) so that it doesn't cut into the strop. This puts the final polish on the edge and takes your edge to a whole new level of sharpness.

Fun and useful item
Takes a little practice to learn to use. I wish it had more instructions on how to use each different stone. Seems to work great and is well built and designed

Work for me.
If you use it right, fellow the instructions and go slow, it makes a damn fine edge.

A slight learning curve, good for reshaping or badly damage edges, not for Japanese 9⁰ edges
This is a simple design, once you set your angle degree, which any protractor app can help you with if you don't already have the means. Then it just long smooth steady strokes. This is set up for Westen knife angles of 13 degrees or more, it won't adjust down to 9⁰ as some of my Japanese knives are so I'll keep using whetstones on those. This comes with diamond sharpening stones, #240, 400, 600 and 1000. These are great for reshaping or use on badly damaged edges, but you'll need to order even finer grit for most maintenance and polishing. I usually start my knives at 1000 grit and finish with 10,000 grit along with stropping. I was hoping to be able to use this on my professional cutting shears and scissors, unfortunately the upright mast is too short to accommodate the proper angle. It definitely gives great results once you understand how it works. It basically holds the blade in place and keeps the proper angle consistent for the sharpening stone. Don't be intimidated, it's very simple and easy.Watch a video or 2 if the illustrated instructions seem confusing. I'm pleased with it, but wish it has a wider jaw, (which I believe is available), to hold axe heads and thick cleavers.Hopefully this was helpful, Thank you!

Setup was Quick and Easy
There is a bit of a learning curve with this item, but if you go check out some videos online you are able to catch on pretty quick. Its very important to figure out what angle your knives are already at before you start. After than, just set it up and go. Per the directions and the videos, I just used the protractor app on my phone to set up my angles and once you have that, its pretty straight forward. I sharpened a few knives right away and they have all come out very sharp. It comes with 4 different grit diamond grinding stones that are easy enough to quickly swap out. So far I really like this and think it will make it much easier to get a quality edge on my knives.
