Absolutely, I have painted every piece from brush to spray and all have turned very well.

Q: What size are the holes?

1/4-20 bolts fit with plenty of room. I did not actually measure the holes, but I do think they'll fit 3/8" bolts.

Q: If i use it to support shelving, how much weight should i expect it to hold? any guesses? could i stand on a 6 foot shelf?

I really don't know. I did not use to build shelves. I used to build a box around my woodstove to create a plenum that would capture all the heat generated and funnel it to outlets at the top and then into ductwork. Worked exceptionally well and did this for several years until I sold the home in Maine and moved to Florida.

Hello, I thinking it would probably bend with that kind of load in the center. The thickness isnt that thick. Possibly with two of them back to back and bolted together in several places it may work.

Excellent Supporting Structure

Lightweight and strong. It has plenty of slots in which to insert bolts. Cuts cleanly if proper saw blade is used.
