Good comfort recipes that use some prepared ingredients - avoid Kindle version
I like the recipes very much because they are easy. If you don't mind using condensed soups and like comfort foods, this is a good selection. I have made a few of them and only 1 didn't cook well enough but it was in a new crock pot and I am not sure if that was the problem. When I heated up one of them at work the next day, everyone kept remarking how good it smelled.I would NOT recommend buying the Kindle Version. The book has several technical issues plaguing it such as bookmarks where there aren't any and times where I cannot see a page at all. Bizarrely I have dozens of bookmarks that I didn't make. They don't contain the title of the page, just 1 word from the title even if you intentionally bookmarked it. When you tap to go to the bookmarked page, it doesn't show a bookmark. I spent an hour removing bookmarks I didn't want or even necessarily add and used the highlight feature to highlight the title of the recipes so I could find them. In this case a paperback version with sticky notes would have been less aggravating.**UPDATE** It looks like the bookmarking feature is working again for the moment. When you check the bookmarks, it has the title, cost, and the nutrition information. In case someone wonders if I marked things and forgot, there are a great deal of foods I cannot eat so I wouldn't have bookmarked recipes where those foods looked critical to the taste of the recipe and those were some of the ones showing in the bookmark list (after I tapped to see what it was).

Not $7 and not a good slow cooker recipe book
I'm not sure why this book has such good reviews. First of all, good luck making any of these for under $20. Definitely not $7. But I wasn't really expecting that. I was just hoping for some good healthy crock pot recipes that wouldn't be too expensive. The biggest issue is that most of the recipes use the slow cooker just like you would any other pot. And then you have to make the rest of it on the stove, in a skillet, or whatever. For example, you'll make the rice in the slow cooker for 2 hours, then top it with the salmon and veggies that took 30 minutes on the stove to make. Why not just make the rice in a pot in 15 minutes and skip the slow cooker? Why slow cook rice?Other recipes require that you stay with your slow cooker the whole time, periodically adding ingredients, browning things on a skillet to add midway through, then 30 minutes later you add some more of this or that. This is fine, I guess, but if I have to spend my whole day managing it, that defeats the purpose.I've only found 2 or 3 useful recipes in this book. And they're not even very good. In my opinion, you're better off just looking online for recipes.

BIG IDEAS IN LITTLE BOOK
This little cookbook has some of the greatest recipes I've ever seen. The lack of pictures is not a problem. There are so many recipes with down to earth ingredients that you will have no problem cooking every one of them and knowing ahead of time that they will be as delicious as they sound. The price per meal is not even an issue although I'm sure the pricing is pretty accurate. I wouldn't even be concerned about price with the variety of recipes this book offers. The table of contents is the best way to find the recipe you're looking for. You just go by chapters that are titled according to your preference. Each chapter gives a list of recipes & page numbers of each one in that chapter. It couldn't be easier.

Great Ideas
I think that other than 300 under 300, this would have to be my most used cookbook. I've acquired almost 80 more since I wrote the review on the other one, and of all of them those two ($7 a meal and 300) get whipped out the most. The Fork Tender Pot roast is fantastic and her broth and stock recipes and suggestions changed the way that I think about my foodscraps. I've saved a ton of money wasting nothing and this book provided the foundation for the low food-waste lifestyle I have since pursued. The book is a gem chock full of tips, tricks and memoirs to help you save money and still eat well.

sloppy packing, great recipes!
A bit bummed about the sloppy packing. As you can see by the picture my book ended up damaged. However, the recipes are great and that’s more important than a damaged book.

pretty good recipes but there are a couple of things that I didn't like....
I like most of the recipes that I've tried but like others who have reviewed said, it's really not a whole meal for $7, it's a main dish so you have to buy sides too. Also the meat recipes often tell you to brown it before hand and I think that takes up extra time that I was hoping to save by buying a crockpot recipe book. She does say that it's not safe to cook frozen meat in a crockpot but I have done it before and never had a problem so I wish she could give the cooking time recommended for frozen (even if she has to say it's not recommended).

We shall see
I hope my friend enjoys the recipes. Only thing that bothered me is that they put a price tag sticker right on the front of the book. So tacky. Put that on the invoice (which wasn't sent)

Made a Nice Christmas Gift
I gave this book, along with a 5 qt. slow cooker, to my son and his wife for Christmas. Personally, I prefer cookbooks that actually feature photos of all the food; this one does not. However, my son tells me that his wife has started fixing him wholesome meals and her cooking skills have improved with this cookbook. So if he's happy, I'm happy.

Easy to use, calls for simple common ingredients found in most kitchens.
Bought it as a gift for my sister in law. She loves it. Likes that that there are just a few ingredients (just a handful) per recipe and common ingredients that are readily available in a kitchen. When you are wanting to prepare quick and simple meals for the family, its nice to turn to a cookbook that doesn't call for having to look for exotic ingredients or too many ingredients. In these recipes there are very simple prep times involved. My sister in law doesn't love to cook and doesn't love to grocery shop so this no fuss approach works for her.

Gourmet On A Budget
I absolutely love this cookbook and use it all the time to have gourmet food on a budget. It works really well and makes an absolutely to die for Broccoli and Cheese Soup

Two Stars
Not realistic pricing, maybe States prices. No pictures which is so important, to me anyway.
