One of the Most Special Books I Have Ever Owned
I'm not sure where to begin with this review. This is one of the most cherished books in my library. It provides an in-depth chronology of Martin guitars from the company's beginning, to the present. The fact that it includes amazing little gifts at various strategic points, is purely MAGICAL. i don't think I've ever had so much fun reading a book before in my life. So much thought and effort has gone into the creation of this book, it really boggles your mind. The publisher has gone to extremes to factually and artistically re-create the many archival items included. Minute details include period correct printing and paper. Each little gift makes you want to sit back and imagine the times during which they were created. It makes sense that the world leader in guitar manufacturing for more than 175 years, would want to put together a world-class "scrap book" of their history. They have really exceeded all expectations with The Martin Archives: A Scrapbook of Treasures. I can't even imagine the hours spent by the author and Dick Boak, pouring through boxes and boxes of Martin historical information, and then deciding which items to include. This was a massive undertaking. It's also obvious that the effort poured into this project was a work of heartfelt love for the company, the employees, and most especially those who are fortunate enough to own a Martin guitar. AS others have noted, this is a book that any Martin enthusiast will truly love. For a Martin guitar owner it represents the pedigree, the very DNA map, that leads from 1833 directly to your own instrument. Certainly, one of the most special books I have ever owned.

The book contains a ton of information about Martin Guitars
I bought a used 1971 Martin D35 in 1972 after the guitar I had learned on was stolen. That old Martin has improved over the years. Several years ago a friend borrowed the Martin to play at a church funeral for a grade school classmate that died when quite young. My friend brought an amp with him but it didn't work so he stood up in one of the pews and played it without and amp. Everyone applauded. His mom was near the front of the church and he asked her if she could hear it. She said she assumed that the amp had worked. The book taught me many things I had never imagined about Martin guitars.

A great book for a Matrin lover
I gave this book to a friend who is a guitar collector, and an avid Martin enthusiast. He went nuts over this book! found out the next day he had sat up all night going over it. Would not stop talking about all the things in this book. I highly recommend for any guitar player!

A Tasteful Collection of Martin Memorabilia
tf you are unable to travel to see the Martin Factory and Museum, this Scrapbook provides many reproductions of mementos involving the C.F. Martin Guitar Company, a family business in Nazareth, Pennsylvania that has been making market leading stringed instruments since 1833!!Many pages have pockets with reproductions of Martin-related memorabilia that you can handle, rather than simply a picture book. This added dimension is a creative way to produce a book that is a real homage to all things Martin. This is a trip down memory lane--very different from the careful documentation found in Mike Longworth's catalog of Martin models, serial numbers, and production of odd single instruments as experiments. Both types of books have a place in your music library if Martin guitars are your "thing." You won't be disappointed here.

Great Reference Book
If you own a Martin, or just interested in guitar history, then this book is for you. Lots of "goodies" from past eras that tell the Martin story. Great addition to any music library.

An amazing book that's full of treasures!
Bought this as a gift for my musician husband who has several Martins. He loves it! It's filled with all sorts of history and trivia. Some "pages" are actually envelopes that have examples of things like historical documents and artifacts - loads of "eye candy" that's so fascinating that we both keep going back to look through it again and again. I highly recommend this as a gift to anyone who loves the iconic Martin guitars.

Great quality book
Great book. What I like most is it’s not biased or Martin marketing how great they are. It’s very factual and to the point. It’s really good well worth it and the researchers and writer should be proud to have created this book. Buy it if your interested in Martin guitar history

An excellent 'scrapbook' of memorabilia
Fascinating 'collection' of pull out and insert memorabilia. Ideal for fans of the firm's history. Good value for money for the amount of effort going into making it.
