About Birds: A Guide for Children

This book is perfect for our kid bags at church
This book is perfect for our kid bags at church. The children who take these bags in to the service are basically pre-readers and early-readers. I see parents reading the books to the kids, sometimes, so some text is fine. But I don't want too much text, so that a parent can finish the book fairly quickly, not taking up too much of the service for the parent, and so the book doesn't get boring for a child.l also want to collect books of quality and education value for the children. For instance I do include the Little Golden Book about the Nativity for the kid bags during the Advent/Christmas season. That is a nice book and faithful to the Gospel. I do tolerate some more text than usual in that book.I have to pick and choose carefully for the kid bags books. Short usually, nice visuals, little or no text usually, with educational and/or Christian value, and no noise-making apparatus connected to the book. Anyway, I originally ordered just one of the About Birds books to look it over. Now, I have ordered 10 more for the kid bags. I am thrilled with this book. It couldn't be better for the kid bags.

Perfect toddler intro to birds.
Absolutely perfect book for a young reader eager to learn about birds. Simple yet talks about birds in a way I might not have thought to explain to my toddler. Pictures are also beautiful.

stunning, educational, must have
I bought this book for my 3 year old niece and I am thrilled. It is such a nice quality and the images are gorgeous. There is a section in the back that talks more about each picture. Perfect for when they get a little older or as information for the parent.

Perfect and beautiful
We own several of the books in this series of books about animals by Cathryn Sill. My son is severely autistic and I'm homeschooling him. These books have changed our lives. He loves them. They are beautifully illustrated and written in a way that helps him understand without overwhelming him. They are such a huge help to us for science and reading. I can't say enough good things about these books and I would recommend them to anyone. I plan on owning all of them eventually.

Beautiful book and great for introduction to different species!
My daughter is just 24 months so on the young side for hte recommended age of this book but she's obsessed with birds. She LOVES this book and all the names of the different birds. She's just barely too young for the last few pages which showcase all of the pages in thumbnail type form and have a bit more information.

Grandson "read" it to me.
Book is very nicely put together. My grandson is always "reading" it to me. He is only 2 and he tells me all about the birds in there. I understand he is to young to really read it to me but he likes the pictures. When he gets a little older he'll realize all the good things it has to say. It shows the birds and their eggs , color of the eggs too. Recently we had an accident where soda was spilled on it and they book is made of a smooth cover & pages very easy to clean.

About Birds Book
This is a beautiful book. My four 1/2 year old grandson loves the pictures. My only comment would be, that for him, there was not enough description on the page about what the topic was. There is small print descriptions in the back, but he didn't like me flipping back and forth to read those. At that age, they want to go page by page.
