Un piccolo GRANDE gioiello! ECCEZIONALE.

Packaging is very nicely done. Comes in a Hardcover book style box ...
Got this for a small desktop setup with bookshelf speakers. I have a Topping Tripath amp and the NAD 3020, figured I'd give this a shot as well.Packaging is very nicely done. Comes in a Hardcover book style box with the components sitting neatly in their respective slots. Well designed- A+Build Quality is quite nice. The amp feels solid and dense, doesn't have a hollow ring to it when tapped, and the machining is quite nice. It has a clean purposeful look. Rating - ADesign - Here is where some of the quirks start showing up. The overall package is quite nice. Its slim, elegant, and looks well made. But the volume knob feels cheap in comparison to the rest of the amp, it sticks out more than it should, there is a bit of play on it and while it is graduated in steps, it is not limited from min to max. It keeps turning both ways. This is super annoying since you have no idea what you have set the volume to and have no point of reference. I am not even sure if its exactly one full turn to reach peak volume or more than a turn. I dont think anything that does not have a remote should have such a design. Press the volume to turn on/off is not a bad idea though, it leaves the front fascia clean. The subtle LEDs are small enough to not bother someone. The other sad news is the spring clamps instead of binding posts. In todays market, pretty much everything comes with binding posts. I'm quite surprised by MF's decision to go this route. Overall design score - BSoundWell that is all that matters in the end right? Well the good news is that it sounds great. Very clean, punchy, balanced and reasonably focussed. But the catch is it runs out of juice really quick. I was at max volume all the time with the lower efficiency Peachtree speakers. Switching to more efficient JBL's gave much needed improvement in overall level but it still feels limited during softer songs. I recommend close to or above 90db sensitivity speakers for this amp. I also cannot recommend it for Classical music at all unless you are sitting right next to the speakers. But for pop/rock/metal etc its gonna do reasonably well with highly efficient speakers. Its clear that they have capped the power before distortion for I did not hear any at full volume through the listening tests. OTOH the Topping amp can get louder but you can clearly tell that sound quality is getting affected as you raise it beyond a certain level. Will test the DAC section next so will update the post once I do.Overall I give this amp an A- but know the limitations well before getting it. Small rooms, desktop, high efficiency speakers, you will do just fine, but for all other folks, you are gonna need something bigger.

Manage your expectations, and it's fine for the price!
I was looking for a low cost amp to extend my Sonos system into my basement, and this fit the bill just right. It takes a digital signal, converts it to a decent analogue signal and amplifies it just enough to drive a pair of proper speakers. Discounted to $150, it makes a lot of sense - at it's original price, not so much, you would want just a few watts more.Bluntly, as a room-filling amp, the V90 is under-powered; it's never going to rock your house down. But it does have a good musical sound, seems well-built and has a good form factor. For my purpose, it's fine. It drives some pretty inefficient bookshelf speakers to a reasonable level. Likewise, if you're looking for a desktop system, this amp will do the job.I do have a couple of quibbles, though. The volume knob is pretty plastic, and as another reviewer noted, it just spins with no end point. I'm not sure what this is all about. Also, and more annoyingly, the speaker cable terminals are spring clips. Why on earth did Musical Fidelity think this was a good idea? I made the mistake of trying to stuff some quality speaker cable into them, and it just didn't fit, so I'm having to trade down. It was like going back to the eighties and worrying about shorting your speakers out with stray wires.Musical Fidelity have a good reputation for producing high quality audio kit at much higher prices than this. With a couple of real caveats, you're buying a (small) slice of that quality.

It's a nice amp with sufficient power for my patio Boston Voyager ...
It's a nice amp with sufficient power for my patio Boston Voyager II loudspeakers. However, it only works with the usb connected to a computer or a tablet. I tried it with the 3.5 mm jack and the optical connector in multiple ways with no success. Almost sent it back but it does work with my tablet so I kept it.

You won't be disappointed
Very good sound and well built, After a bit of tweaking, this has turned out to be a super amplifier (driving Q Acoustics 3010's) Using the V90 DAC to increase the inputs, fantastic combination...each unit about the size of a paperback
