Incredibly sharp, will cut through almost anything.
I have been in healthcare for over ten years and these are the best shears I have found. They are solidly constructed with thick steel that has a good weight to it. They are very sharp right out the package. When I got my first pair I pretty quickly cut my finger on one edge while cleaning them. They are knife sharp and hold their edge. I am an ED nurse and frequently have to cut through all manner of things and only a zipper on a pair of heavy jeans have stopped the shears. I have had my current pair (my last pair were stolen, I don’t know if these shears would ever wear out) for over a year while working in the ED and they still just as sharp as when I took them out of the package. The finger holes are also nice and big so the fit for larger hands shouldn’t be an issue. The only issues I have experienced is that when you first get them, they can be a bit sticky and may require some effort to open and close. However, they soon loosen up and it’s no longer a problem. The other issue is that because they are so heavy duty they are definitely heavy in the pocket. I got a generic, cheap leather sheath to hold the shears and I clip the sheath to the inside of my cargo pocket and that has worked great.Get these shears, you will not regret it.

The best I have found in 12 years….
I am a paramedic and use trauma shears continuously. I have tried every option I can find, looking for durable shears that can withstand cutting off denim, canvas, and through zippers and Velcro. These shears are the best, by far. They material is very strong, they hold their edge longer than any comparable shear, and they work smoothly. My only complaint is not unique to these shears. I have big hands. I wish someone would make shears with larger finger loops! All shears are similar and I can barely get my fingers in them…. Let alone with any type of winter glove on! Maybe someone will make a shear with bigger loops for big-handed medics! Until then, these are the best of the best. I teach EMS and I have seen students bring in a variety of options. I always try them out. I also do the purchasing for 2 agencies. I keep looking for a durable option with cutting blades we can sharpen to improve longevity. This is it! The others are disposable garbage barely able to make it though a snowmobile suit. These shears last and last!

Heavy Duty Trauma Shears
The media could not be loaded. I wanna address the pants issue that people are having; watch the video, you probably just have a different style than other people that are leaving the “they don’t fit” reviews. At first glance, these things are the real deal. I’ve personally been waiting for a reason to get my hands on them and I eventually ran into an ER nurse that had a pair. Seeing them in person and watching them cut smoothly finally sold me.Are these worth $40? Yes. If you work in the medical field / EMS, doubly so. Usually I carry 2 pair of shears in case one decides to break down on me but after grabbing these I can free up some space lol.I hate to say I want to use them on a call myself but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to break them in.They’re THICCC shears; I’d say you could melt down almost 3 disposable shears and melt them down into how thick the blades are. They can pass the ‘penny test’ which is pretty dope. I’m not gonna go out of my way to cut a penny but knowing that someone else has in their review is cool. The grips are very nice. Since they’re a soft rubber on the handles, there’s no room for error with regards to how disposables have the stamped plastic that’s usually sharp or not filed down. Gloves won’t snag on these handles. The blades are pretty slick. I like the flat smooth tips compare to how the disposables have that weird kinda flat notch on one blade.Do they fit in EMS pants? Depends on the pants. The video I uploaded covers what 5.11 sells so make your own judgement there.I recommend these. I will use these until they break and I don’t see that happening for a hot minute. Eventually I’ll upload an edit to this review after I’ve spent more time with them and have them worn in pretty well. Also, I am an EMT for reference incase that helps.*EDIT* ONE MONTH POST PURCHASE: Alright so recently I had a trauma call for a woman with a broken hip. If you are in the medical field you know that rule number one with trauma is to get'em naked so I finally flexed these bad boys. These shears are DEFINITELY the real deal. I was able to smooth right through a pair of jeans from the ankle to the waist as well as a belt that overlapped on itself (1cm thick of leather) with extreme ease. Above in this review I mentioned that they were a little stiff to operate initially BUT when you are going through the paces and in the heat of the moment, you don't even notice. I've cut through nasal cannula tubing, now jeans with a belt, and other miscellaneous things during the month I've owned them and I don't think I could recommend these enough. 100% worth the buy and I may even mess around and buy another set in blue. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY reccomend.*EDIT: 3 MONTHS LATER*So I want to address the pants issue what I spoke about with the shears initially. I ended up making the shears fit PERFECTLY when I put the blade into the pen holder and use the Velcro latch on my pats to go through the handle. By sacrificing the pen slot on my cargo pocket, it completely eliminated the pulling and stretching on the tab. This worked for both pants. Just make sure you feed the Velcro tab through the small handle on the shears and guide the blades into the pen pocket. As far as quality goes, the xShears are still kicking major butt. At this point I’ve cut through boots, belts, heavy denim, thick leather (the belt from the above review and some more) and they are still brand new. I’m beyond satisfied with this purchase and I’ll be buying another one for my partner as a Christmas gift. 10/10, no regrets.

Prefer to Raptors
I bought this pair as a gift for a friend graduating nursing school. I have 2 sets of my own that I love. They are sturdy and cut well. I've been a nurse for 20+ years and gone through a lot of shears. My husband is a paramedic and bought the leatherman Raptors a few years back. My thing with them is they are not easy to clean. X shears are

Very function shears
Not in a medical profession, but I've opted to keep a simple trauma kit with me and included these shears. They are solid,, and while I haven't had the need to cut through heavy materials, it's cut everything I have taken it to with ease.

Better than Raptors
I was a raptor user for a long time, they’re heavy and expensive but do the intended job. xShear goes above and beyond by creating the same durability and quality as Raptor but for a fraction of the price. xShear avoids all the “extras” that Raptor has, thus decreasing the overall weight!

Cuts everything. With ease. I’ve been using it for a while now. They are the sturdiest pair of sheers I’ve purchased.

Well constructed and VERY sharp.
I'm an A&E Ambulance Technician. So far they've easily cut through everything I've tried with no problems at all, inc boots and motorbike leathers. Still seem as sharp as new. Seem very well designed and are super sturdy compared to the standard issue shears. Also, very easy to clean (esp compared to the Leatherman Raptor (which otherwise is a great, if expensive, bit of ki)t.Note: I did not buy the matching holster for 3 reasons:1. Expensive - the combination of shears and holster gets you into Raptor price territory2. Apparently though very secure the holster needs a 2 handed operation to get the shears out. Instead I use a cordura holster - there are lots of identical ones on Amazon (with a substantial price range.3. It looks quite bulky for what it is.These are still expensive shears but should last years - if I don't loose them at a job!. Finally, don't check the $ price - you will only get depressed.

Not delivered despite several new delivery dates
Would like to review the item, looks very good. But if you want it I would suggest you go else where. After over two weeks, and a shifting delivery slot, still no show.I have ordered items from America which have arrived before this.Awful service. Very disappointed.Edit: I still haven’t received these , nor have I heard from the supplier. I have however received a pair of xshears next day delivery from Reflex medical. The item is excellent, save yourself the hassle and order from someone other than Medical Aide Memoire.
