Sta-Tru Silver Alloy ATB Hub Quick Release Front Wheel (26X1.5-Inch)

Sometimes it's easier and cheaper to just replace both wheels than to rebuild them, and that is what I did when I bought this wheel from here on Amazon. That's because the total cost of each individual part can begin to add up quickly, costing more than a whole wheel. Keep that in mind.I just want to be clear. I bought a Sta-Tru rear wheel locally and this matching Sta-Tru front wheel from Amazon.I own a mid-2000s TREK 3700 mountain bike with 26" QR (quick release) wheels and V-brakes front and rear. I also own an even older TREK Navigator 100 comfort bike, also with 26" QR wheels and V-brakes front and rear. Both bikes have nearly identical sets of OEM wheels.I was in the midst of rebuilding both bikes, and after inspecting all four wheels at once, I quickly realized that both sets had problems, with either rims being bent or axle parts and hubs being worn out - and one bad spoke. So, I decided to salvage them by playing the mix and match game in order to get one working pair from all of the good parts -- the salvaged pair would then be installed on the Navigator 100. Of course, as for the new pair of Sta-Tru wheels, I would install them on the 3700.As for these wheels:For the price, you really can't go wrong here. Side by side comparison, these wheels are just as good as the ones that they replace, perhaps even better. Both wheels were true enough, with barely any side-to-side wobble and no egging that I could notice. The QR axles are very close to being the same length as the originals, making installation a breeze. I did not have to modify anything. They fit perfectly. Also, the QR skewers are really nice looking, and very shiny. They should spruce up any bike, I'm sure.My only beef is that I couldn't find these wheels in black -- only silver. Yes, unfortunately, my old wheels are black. Before, with the old black wheels, my TREK 3700 had a darker, more menacing look, now it looks a bit brighter and less menacing. But hey, the change is good, IMO!Shipping, I thought for an item like this, would be terrible, resulting in a bent rim or worse, but my fears were laid to rest when the package arrived at my door step. I'm happy to report that the wheel showed up in perfect condition.I'm very satisfied with everything. Highly recommended!

For the price paid, this is a decent MTB wheel.The wheel construction is decent, and the wheel was pretty true when it arrived, about 90% - it was not perfectly true and had one area with a minor out-of-true, but not enough to rub on the brake pads, so perfectly usable. This was surprising though, considering the packing - see below. The axle that was included is super low-quality, with a plastic-covered nut and cheesey quick-release mechanism. It's so bad that I decided to re-use the 15-year-old axle from the wheel I was replacing.The star was deducted because this item was packed terribly by Amazon. This is a fragile item - an aluminum wheel, that needs to be straight and true when it arrives. Other reviewers mentioned receiving a wheel packed in bubble-wrap. However, the wheel I received was in a plastic bag in a large box, with no padding or protection at all inside the box. It seems like pure luck that the wheel was in decent shape when it arrived.So while the wheel itself is a decent value, I'm calling out Amazon for a terrible packing job.

I well made and reasonably true. I ordered front and was shipped rear. I could not use quick release and installed useing my old one. No rim liner to protect inner tube.

I was given a job to clean up a storefront and found the frame of a Diamondback bike in it that needed a new front wheel and a lot of TLC. I found this one online and ordered Please understand my complaints.1. E-mailed vendor asking if the wheel was ready to go or required me to purchase any additional parts, Answer "I don't know" read Description that's all the information we have.2. Did web search for vendor and located called got same idiot Named "Madison" on phone same stupid lack of customer service " no information available.3.received tracking number for package it was for a USPS shipment after a week of it sitting there with no update then I received another tracking number for a UPS Shipment 5 days later package arrived it arrived in good condition and all was wellHowever I would not order from this vendor ever again as they sent a phony tracking # have just about the most ignorant Customer service I have ever heard of and even when you locate them and call them you might get to talk to an "Untrained" Monkey who does NOT Care about your business.

Overall, pretty good. A bit out of true visibly, but not enough to rub the pads. Does not come with rim strip or tape; my old wheel's fit so I don't know the width needed (check other reviewers). Seems durable except maybe for heavy off-road. Def worth it for the price. NOTE: this was just placed in a box and shipped; no packing material (hub was zip-tied to spoke) - this may allow for damage, and perhaps I got lucky. YMMV
