Mystery PinsPoppy Pin Badge for Remembrance Day, 2023 British Red Poppy Badge, Lest We Forget

The title describes this enamel badge, which has a diameter of 2.5cm as being being for remembrance day. The description also states: “The perfect poppy brooch for remembrance day”..And upon receipt it certainly did spark remembrance (the action of remembering) within me.The bright red enamel of the petals reminded me of the blood and sacrifice made by so many in order to keep this country, and others, safe and free.The 5mm diameter dull black circle in the centre reminded me of how cold and bleak someone’s heart would have to be to exploit those sacrifices for personal gain.The 5 petals reminded me not of wild poppies which tend to have 4 or 6 petals, but of the lengths people will go to in order to get around copyright laws.The 2mm shiny gold plating around the edge of the poppy, and and around its black centre, reminded me of how easy it is to imitate something that is precious, and how we need to be careful not to place the call of riches above our morals and ethics.The “10% Off your next order” coupon on the back of the cardboard backing, reminded me how not a penny of this poppy goes towards supporting the work of the British Legion.Conclusion:As you can see, whilst this pin may well be very good for remembrance (it sure sparked a lot in me), it is most certainly does not live up to the description of being “perfect for Remembrance Day”.

A quite large poppy pin, it doesn’t mention on the page if any contributions will be made to the poppy appeal, with the sale of each badge, so I’ll add an extra fiver in the collection tin.The poppy is a beautiful red colour and looks like it’s made by the cold enamel process, which gives it a deep colour.There are two pins on the back, with two rubber bungs, to hold the badge securely onto your clothing.A very nice item, commemorating our fallen heroes.

This is a really good quality pin badge. The poppy design is a nice size and looks good. I like the double pin idea as it makes the badge that much more secure. My only concern is when poppy badges are advertised as being suitable remembrance and no money is donated to the RBL poppy appeal. I think the poppy is widely accepted as associated with the RBL charity so I will wear my poppy badge with pride but I will also be donating to the RBL appeal. On the basis of this pin badge though I would definitely buy badges from them in the future.

This is a beautiful red poppy pin badge with 2 backs, which makes your pins more secure. I much prefer the 2 backs as I’m always losing pins, and these backs are also more secure. This is a good size with nice enamel work and worth the £6.99 price tag.I’ve bought several designs from Mystery Pins so I was already aware that it’s not an official Remembrance Day product, nor do they say it is. It’s just one of the designs they sell and as I love poppies I don’t just buy them for Remembrance Day.

This is a rather nice little poppy made from thick solid hardened steel. At 25mm by 25mm it is probably small enough to be used by gentlemen in their lapel buttonhole and would also look nice on jerseys dresses so in fact is suitable for both male and female.I already have one and usually slip money in collection boxes anyway. I think my husband will use this one. I am surprised that it has 2 metal pins for fastening as I would think a central one would have been enough. However the poppy is held secure

This is a nice little poppy pin, perfect for male or female use. It is small enough to wear on a lapel, pocket or scarf and still be visible.It is well made, hand painted and has double, rubber tipped fasteners.It does mention donating to a designated charity, which is nice, but I will still also be supporting the poppy appeal in my normal way.

I don’t want to get into the ethics surrounding this pin but just to report on its quality.As a pin it is a thick gold coloured metal and enamel painted flower that is very pretty to look at and has two small spikes on the rear with plastic caps that fasten it to clothing.It’s pretty and it is neat.
