Shaft is plastic, not brass
It’s a drain plug replacement, but the picture and vague-enough description leads you to believe the shaft is brass. It’s not.

Perfect replacement!
So I have a brand new house so brand new bathrooms and go to bathe for the first tim in the brand new tub and hear the sound of water slowly draining from the tub. 30 minutes later the tub is half filled. Turns out the stopper was leaking. It recessed in the drain and had an EXTREMELY thing rubber ring around it that was supposed to plug the drain. Well maybe if it fit in a near perfect situation! So I jumped on Amazon figuring someone had to make something better than that awful design! Came upon this and hit Buy Now. This one may not seem as fancy since it lays on top if the drain rather than recessing in, but the nice wide rubber seal lays over the whole drain and actually keeps the water from draining out., imagine that! So I bought another one for the other bath and have had no issues. Make sure everything is tightened down so that the rubber gasket moves all the way down over the drain to give it a good seal. May be a little bulky, but at least it works and looks better than those old white rubber ones my grandmother used to have!

It works!
I had one of the spring loaded types that would drain the tub on occasion and then it stopped sealing. Then it would take forever to drain. I wanted one that I could lift to open. I also waned a one piece design that I could get out if I needed to. The previous spring loaded drain stopper I had to use a big pair of channel locks to get it out. Every once in a while I have to clean the hair out of the drain. This should make it pretty easy. This one will drain the tub in 3 to 4 minutes without all then noise of the old one. This should make it pretty easy.

It is heavy duty and fits a standard tub.
Make sure you follow the instructions on the back. When I first tried to install it, I thought it was too short, but it is not. You have to unscrew the main rod/shaft from the top of the stopper, install that rod/shaft into the drain, THEN replace the nut and top of the stopper. The rod/shaft has two ends for you to choose from, so it should fit any tub. It is heavy duty and well worth the money. This was replacing a toe-tap model that had already been replaced twice, even though we rarely ever used it. The brushed nickel look matches perfectly with the other brushed nickel items in the tub, and it looks like quality, not cheap plastic that I saw in the hardware aisle. This was perfect!

Old is better, Brass fittings rock
This one, the one with brass fittings is just perfect and sturdy.Amazon may suggest you to buy the newer model, don't go for that. The newer model has the center column made of plastic instead of Brass and doesn't even fit properly, if you try too hard then the thread gets damaged. This one is total value for money.
