Good clean carbon.
I'm still relatively new to the aquarium hobby (about 2 years), and I've used this and Chemi Pure Elite. I prefer this product because it rinses clean very quickly compared to Chemi Pure Elite, which seems to never rinse completely clean. My Nitrates remain very low (at or near undetectable with Red Sea Nitrate Pro test kit), and I personally never noticed any significant reduction of phosphates using Chemi Pure Elite (it's suppose to help with phosphates too). I also prefer the bag this is in to the Chemi Pure elite bag, this one seems to be better quality. I've had a chemi pure elite bag break and pumped carbon all over my tank. This is rated to treat up to 40 gallons, but I use it in a 24 gallon saltwater tank (hopefully that's Okay).

Perfect, especially when coupled with Seachem Purigen.
I use this alongside a bag of 100ml Purigen and I can attest that my 29 gallon L tank's water is not only perfectly pristine, there's also no hint of a strong pungent odor emanating from it.This will fit solo or with other media just fine in a Penguin Biowheel 150. It's not too tall/wide and will sink to the bottom of the Penguin media chamber allowing all the water to pass through your preferred mechanical media.I use Accurel Waste and Debris Reducing Media Pad, Matrix Carbon and Purigen in that order and I'm fully satisfied. Although it may take some days (4 days in my 29 gallon L) to witness definite results; don't hesitate to do your own combo of filter medias in order to achieve your desired maximum effect.

Like most Seachem products
Like most Seachem products, this matrix carbon product appears to work well. I would definitely recommend washing it thoroughly before using it in your canister filter, as there is a large amount of black powder that comes off. It is most likely harmless to the tank, but it will make the water appear quite dirty before it gets filtered out. The package was a bit smaller than I expected, but it seems to be doing a good job keeping my 17 gallon tank clean in an Eheim 2213.

It appears to work okay, not as wonderful as the listing hype though
It appears to work okay, not as wonderful as the listing hype though. I use a number of SeaChem products on a regular basis, but may reconsider this particular item.
