A Huge Improvement In Quality And Function Over The Stock Mossberg Safety
When I first got my Mossberg 500, I was very disappointed to see that as good the quality of the shotgun was, the safety was plastic. I had visions of needing to go from safe to fire, and it breaking, rendering the shotgun useless. A metal one should have been on from the factory in my opinion. (See my photos) The plastic one is still for sale as a replacement part, for over $15.00!. Ridiculous. The same part is available in aluminum, and it is $23.00. Both are sold on Amazon. I find it astonishing that Mossberg still chooses to use this plastic part for such an important function. And they still offer the inferior plastic one for sale as a replacement. Would you replace a broken plastic one with another plastic one?. And also the added cost of a new ball and spring that were most certainly lost when the safety broke. On Amazon, the ProMag enhanced version it is constantly in and out of stock. You can sign up to be e-mailed when they are in, but they never notified me. Better to put the page in your favorites and check often. I paid $21.50 shipped on Amazon. It is on the ProMag site for $31.15 shipped. [...] It is product # PM262 Now, the real meat of the review. This ProMag is far superior to the Mossberg in design, quality, and function. The quality is outstanding. You can easily tell at a glance the position of safe or fire. The raised thumb feature makes for a sure, positive release of the safety. Especially if you have gloves on. I don't know what's left to be said. It is a superb product and I highly recommend it. Just buy it. You will not regret it. I am 100% satisfied. If I had more than 1 Mossberg, It would be on them also. It is 30.3mmL x 7.7mmW x 8.67mmH. The finish is top notch. No machine marks at all, polished, with a flawless durable black finish. Amazon states in the description that it is made of stainless steel. The ProMag site describes it as "A hard-anodized aluminum". I know that I should go by the the manufacturer's word. But it feels way too heavy to be any aluminum alloy. May be that it is now stainless, and ProMag hasn't updated it on their site. Anyway, whatever it is made out of, it is never going to break on you. Thank you for reading. I hope someone finds my review helpful in making a buying decision.

Flawless, everyone needs one.
I bought my Mossberg 500 used, and my safety was pretty much impossible to operate, unless I used the palm of my hand with considerable force to slide it. Anyway, I thought maybe the issue could be fixed by taking the safety off and cleaning and lubing the ball bearing underneath. I have the one way security screw but using a flathead screwdriver and a hammer and tapping it, I got it removed. I discovered the stock safety was actually cracked. It split right in half after I took it off. That's when I started looking for a replacement and found this ProMag replacement that's metal. Came in a day, and is awesome. Some people have said you need a new screw, but factory one worked. Yes it'd be nice to get a regular screw you don't have to fight to get out, and I may still, but I just wanted to get it on my firearm. My safety is now functional, and very easy to manipulate. I still used the factory plate/spacer underneath. Install is very easy and there's plenty of YouTube videos if you need. Just don't lose the little ball bearing, or you'll be waiting until you get another one of those too. Anyway, extremely durable and solid, and I'm super happy about it. Some people have said it seems to tall to acquire your sight (the bead), but I don't find that to be the case. Will be recommending these to anyone that has a compatible Mossberg, whether their safety is broken or not. It's an easy upgrade and a must, at least to me.

Improved function and reliability. Better grip makes it faster and easier to use the safety.
The media could not be loaded. This is the slide safety that should come stock on the Mossberg 500/590. Not only is it made of steel versus the plastic one that comes stock, but the raised portion provides much needed grip for toggling the safety on and off and makes it much faster and easier to use. It is a nice improvement on function and reliability and the installation was not difficult. After watching a short instructional video on YouTube ([...]) it took me a short time to remove the old safety and install the ProMag Enhanced Slide Safety. The screw had to get scratched in the process but it's worth it and can fix later. Not a big deal but when installing the new safety slide the screw hole should be on the back, towards the stock, so you have more surface area for your thumb when disengaging the safety.

Ergonomic
Takes a bit of finesse to install, but much better than the plastic flat safety knob. Good durability, and smoother handling with this one.

Works great
Fits mossberg 500 without any issues. Would of been nice if it came with a new screw. But I managed to use the exsisting one.
