I've been buying North Face, Marmot, and Patagonia jackets since I was in college. The quality has never changed. But my body has. It's tougher to find the right jacket to fit my dad bod. Marmot and Patagonia are worth the money if you're still slim. If not, the standard fit North Face line cannot be beat.
