Best leash on the market
The short length is perfect for teaching my wild dog to walk close to me. Enough room for her to smell things and go to the bathroom. The handle is padded with a secure, comfortable grip off your wrist. The best feature is the secure caribner lock. It locks and twists and is well made and strong, so you’re not afraid it will break, if you have a wild, strong, “puller” dog like mine.

The leash I’ve been looking for!!!
Most leashes are much too long, but this leash is the perfect length for your dog to properly walk beside you. It’s super high quality, very comfortable to hold. Absolutely great. Only downsides are the clip is very heavy, only a concern with a small dog, and it does not rotate, which gets tricky with a dog who does lots of spins before doing his business. Otherwise, couldn’t be a bigger fan of this leash and Ruffwear!

You get what you pay for
We've used Ruffwear products for about 3 decades now. I recently tried some less expensive leashes and ended returning them. Their carabiners are very slight in build, and lightweight. The locking mechanisms are a sliding barrel. While sitting with my puppy on one of those other leashes the carabiner moved against the d-ring and the locking barrel slide and my puppy was off leash. I have never had that problem with a Ruffwear leash. The carabiners are more stout and the locking mechanism is more secure. We had one Ruffwear leash that the locking barrel kept unscrewing but Ruffwear gave us a new leash. I was thinking that a swivel would be good to have on the carabiner but reality is that the rivet on the swivel is another point of failure. Given how small those less expensive carabiners are that is a legitimate concern. So I am back to being a Ruffwear fan. This is my first 30" leash. I had my doubts but I like it. I do not hold it with my hand, instead securing to a belt on my waist with another carabiner to lock the leash to me. With that set up I am hands free. My puppy still has room to move around but she is learning much more quickly to stay at my side with this shorter leash. Initially I thought a 4' leash might be better, but in hindsight this length is good. At $1 and inch it is pricey but compared to the alternatives I will stick with Ruffwear.

Great
Great short leash. My dog is in puppy training and this short leash makes it a little easier to handle him.

“Just right”
It’s just the right length to keep your dog close without having one of those retractable leashes or a long lead wound around your hand. When we get to the park, I just stuff it through his ruffwear harness and he can go play, then just in tuck it and he’s on a leash.

Not suitable for training puppy
What I like about it is the locking carabiner, and that the leash looks sturdy, and is attractive. I went out with my very rambunctious puppy for a test walk. It didn't go well. I also just got an easy walk harness that has a D ring on the chest that is supposed to curb pulling by pulling her to the side when she lunges and walks on her hind legs like a person. What I like about the carabiner is that it is a light aluminum and is big enough so that I could attach the carabiner to both the harness and to the collar since I have this fear that she might break free from her harness and run into the street. The leash is attractive so I felt good stepping out with my 5 mos. old Papillon with her pretty leash. But the problem is that my puppy spins around and spirals the leash so I kept having to stop and untwist the leash. I'm hoping that I will be able to train my puppy to walk normally and then I will be able to use it again.

Great for leash pullers and running
I use this and a carabiner clip on my running belt to run with my border collie. This is sturdy and the safety lock is very sturdy.

STURDY AND SECURE
I have a number of dog leads and decided to purchase this for when I walk him on the pavements on his 'last before bed' walk of the day.A short lead makes walking our dog so much easier especially when crossing road or on narrow pavements. This one is super sturdy and robust. Probably not suitable for smaller dogs and tall dog walkers as the lead is short.Expensive? You get what you pay for and this is really good quality. I rate Ruff Wear products highly.

Not ideal for dual lead
Good sturdy lead but a pain in the behind when using along with the dual lead (which Ruffwear recommend!). Should have been fitted with a rotating carabiner. For some reason it hasn't been and so with two dogs you'll find you are constantly having to turn the handle around as it gets tangled really easily. Unless you have two dogs that never swap sides ( one stays on the left and one stays on the right) then I'd recommend looking for another lead with rotation included. Feels like the product team (who normally produce great stuff!) really didn't fully test drive this!
