Wanted to Love- Just Meh
My son finished 4th grade Christian Light Education math (CLE) and it was a struggle for him, so I thought we'd try this approach to 4th grade math before we moved onto 5th grade. There are more cons than pros for me. I'll list them here.PROS: extremely short lessons. Short stories before a week's worth of lessons that continue throughout the workbook. Activities assigned to do at home or in real life (measuring a room, spending money at the store, etc.).CONS: The stories in this book are just that- stories. They do not relate to the actual math in this particular book, so I found the stories unnecessary. Not really any real instruction on how to do the problems. I want my son to be able to try to figure problems out on his own, but the problems are just there to figure out without many examples or lesson instruction. While I like the short lessons, they are even too short for my liking. Also, maybe coming from CLE 4th grade, I just felt this program was lacking. It is probably the lack of lesson instruction that has bothered me the most.I've decided to use it as a supplement to finish it up, but I will most likely never use this this particular curriculum again. I'll just redo 4th grade CLE with my son, cut out a bunch of review, and move at a faster pace. CLE explains it so well. I think his brain just needed to process the information, and CLE is known for being about a year ahead of listed grade level.Hope this helps anyone trying to decide. If you need uber short lessons, this is the curriculum for you. Just be prepared to explain concepts in much more depth.

So far we like this Math curriculum (level 4)
So far we like this Math curriculum (level 4). The only thing I'm not crazy about is there are not always clear instructions for new concepts (or perhaps concepts introduced before but that we haven't done since we are new to this curriculum). Example is Roman Numerals. There wasn't an explanation for what they are or when they are used today. How the numbers work wasn't explained either (like how the number four is written IV instead of IIII).

We look for the right content, in this case Math, and for my kids reaction to the book.
Lessons for a Living Education : Math Level 4As a parent, school material specially the books we buy are a key part of our job. We look for the right content, in this case Math, and for my kids reaction to the book. The reason I bought the book is that I though this would help my kids with their math lessons. To begin, my kids love reading, so this book provides a story line along with the math. The content is spot on, the amount of work sheets is just right. Because this book is teaching the mechanics of math along with a story that your kids enjoy reading. They started school this week and I have Two out of four kids using Living Eduction books, the older two are using Life of Fred, which is also very good math book. The two using the Living Education love doing their assigned lessons. One of my kids loves it so much that she completes the weekly work in the one day. She has completed four week worth of work as of yesterday. The other one go through the material at his own pace, but are not feeling overwhelmed by the work required. Both of them love the story line and are able to get through the work assigned with minimal questions.I love the fact that the story helps them see how the information that they need to learn can be use and they love to follow along in the story. So, they find it fun to learn… I love that!!!This is the first time we use Living Education, first impression I feel is a great buy, great content and my kids love the work, it is like play time for them. They love to learn and this math book is helping them continue to love to learn.I hope this helps, I recommend the books by Living Education: Math Level 4 & 5

Check the answers
Over all the book worked for us. We did have to look up some additional help to figure out how to do some of the math problems, which wasn’t an issue with us because he is a visual learner. But we did find that the answer key was wrong with 20+ answers. When I counted something wrong and my son ask why he got it wrong, I had to be more watchful and check to see if the answer key was correct. There was one page that had been switched with having all the answers in the workbook and the worksheet in the answer key. Maybe this was just our book but it was frustrating for me when I was grading. This is our third year with this math curriculum and I’ve not had this happen until this year.

Great stories and not overwhelming
Best math program I've ever used! My daughter has math anxiety so I changed her curriculum to find a better fit, and I couldn't be happier. She asks to start math each day. The stories are great, and a terrific way to tie into the math concepts. The font size is not intimidating like most math books where you might need a magnifying glass! I like the constant spiral review. Wish we had started this from the beginning!

Gentle Approach to Math Education
I purchased this book based on a recommendation and have not been disappointed. My child needs a gentle approach to math and this currículum is perfect. I appreciate the Charlotte Mason inspired teaching. It's so easy to use and not overwhelming at all. At some times I supplement with extra work as needed, which is no problem. I'm looking forward to the higher levels in this curriculum.

Love this math curriculm for homeschooling!
We have not started this 4th grade level yet although my son has begged to lol! We did the 3rd grade level this school year and he loved it, math was his favorite book to start with everyday and we finished it by Christmas! He did about a lesson a day..The lessons are awesome, I love how as it progresses it will still pull a few lessons previously done and mix those in to make sure that the child understood them. We were very pleased and are excited to start this 4th grade level!

Great for a child struggling in math
This math book is making my daughter tolerate to the point of almost enjoying math again. Thankful for that. However there's very little teacher instruction in this book. So we go to YouTube when things need to be explained a little more in depth. We also like that there are different types of problems in each lesson. So maybe 3 addition problems, 3 division and 3 multiplication. Breaks up the monotony and makes it feel not so overwhelming to my daughter. This curriculum is great for kids struggling in math.

Love these books
Great for kids who don't like maths or who struggle with it! So happy we found these books as our daughter is engaging with them and has increased her understanding more than we ever thought possible. We have tried lots of other math curriculum and she hated all of them - until we found Math for a Living Education.

Amazing!
These books are amazing! I use them with all my school age kids and they love them. They are US based so I have to go through and adjust money, measurements etc but I think it's worth it. My 7 year old is already doing long division/multiplication and knows all her timestables so they are definitely more than enough.
