I was skeptical that this unit would actually get and maintain a high enough temperature to do tiffany style stained glass but much to my surprise it is far superior to the weller units I have had in the past. And far more economical.

This soldering station is pretty awesome. The soldering iron I've had for the last 15 years was just a simple plug-in one with a chisel tip and no buttons, switches, or adjustable settings. The kind that doubles as a wood burning iron. It also took a legit 4 or 5 minutes (or even longer) to get up to soldering temp. This soldering iron blew my mind as I set it to 600°F and the tip heated up to temp in just under 13 seconds! Yes, I timed it with my phone's stop watch. Maybe modern soldering irons are all like this nowadays, but I'm only a hobbyist and don't do TONS of solders, mostly just repair work, so I wouldn't know. Therefore, I give the iron itself a 5 star rating, but the additional station part is really convenient too. The holder and the tip-cleaning can especially. My only real gripe would be that the cord for the iron comes right out of the bottom front of the station, so if you have it set up and you're working directly in front of it as I was, there's a lot of cord there in your midst and I was worried about accidentally touching the hot iron to it. This isn't a REAL problem though, and none worth reducing the rating for. This little guy is definitely worth the money, in my book!
