Traction'r kit needed!
This was the darndest thing. We had a Carefree awning installed with the aluminum first foot or so for protection. When we tried to extend it the aluminum part overpowered the system and bagged down. The shop that installed it called Carefree and they said "You need the Traction'r kit." Why they didn't tell the shop it was needed when they ordered the part I'll never know, but the shop gave me all the info to order it so I did. Drake's RV Repair in Pendleton OR by the way, good honest people. Anyway, the parts arrived in good time and easy to install and they do the job! Very happy with what Amazon did and how well the parts work but not real tickled with Carefree for not reminding our shop that this part was needed.

No more sticking awnings
These things work very well. However, it would be very helpful if there were instructions on how to place them. As it is they are in a package and it takes a few trials to get them in the right position. Once you've got it done though, the do the job.

Junk but
If you own a carefree awning, you have no choice but to buy these at least once a year to replace them. Shame.

Super easy to install
Super easy to install. I did not think the screw was needed as they fit tightly around tube. I did use a bead of silicone caulk to seal them in place. I don't like putting holes in things. This solved the problem with the awning not deploying properly. Thanks

Carefree awning traction kit keeps it in place
Had an issue with the awning unfurling a bit in 65mph sidewinds. Have travelled for 10 years with no issues. But when examining these existing traction rings, it was apparent they were soft, very worn, and not as effective as necessary. Got the new ones from Amazon. A perfect match, rubber was very hard, traction knobs were perfect, and after installation, it was easy to see that the awning rolled up and was tightly held in the metal cover it rolled up into. Note to self, perhaps replace next time at the 8-9 year point.Its been over 4 years since replacing, and they are doing well. Just added the picture of the original position of the Traction ring.
