The book has beautiful colorful pictures and lots of information. I bought it for my 5 year old grandson and while he obviously can't read it by himself yet, it's still perfect. The book is well organized and an adult can easily pick out enough info to share without overwhelming him with too much. I feel this is a book that he can grow with, as he gets older there is a lot of information that can be shared. I love this book for many ages.

This is a high quality, pretty comprehensive, but not overwhelmingly so, book that our 4 and 7 year old grandsons , and I, love. I have some rock hound background but I learned a lot. Covers how the three types of rocks are formed, with photo examples, pronunciation of names, and photos of natural and manmade wonders of rock formations.
